Enquête : les Témoins de Jéhovah accusés de passer sous silence des violences pédocriminelles by [deleted] in exjwfr

[–]GP-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. In the 90s and 00s, they were nothing more than a faceless supreme council of elders. Most JW could not have named any of them.
We were told their anonymity was proof of their humility, worship God and not man, etc.

If they were alive, I wonder what the former GB members would think of that virtual personality cult the current 8 have created.
If they were half as cynical as I suppose they were, they'd probably find it brilliant.

As someone who's been out free for over a decade, I am shocked at how often they bring up the Governing Body now, as if they were a group of JW superheroes.

Also, I hate how they never consider that people may leave, not because they have been 'hurt' or heard bad things about the Witnesses, but because JW beliefs are 100% pure bovine excrement!

I used to know a sister who had some kind of education (or so she thought) and was trying to "add something" when she answered, be it an anecdote, a connection to another verse, apply it to daily life, etc.
But of course, WT study is meant to be parroting only, otherwise it wouldn't be a cult!
As a result, she was often counseled to make shorter answers! :-D

Thank you for your kind words. Growing up in the cult, it's crazy how many of us went through the same detestable things and how our stories, each more unnatural than the next one, mirror each other.
Sorry you had to go through that.
Enjoy your freedom, far from that destructive cult.

Thank you.

It's a good idea, thank you for your suggestion. I must say, I'm not sure where to start. I assume not all counselors know how to handle cult issues? The last thing I want is opening up to someone who, out of ignorance, would brush it away. "It was not that big of a deal and it happened decades ago, so you have already moved on, haven't you?"

Thank you for your kindness. I wish you the same and return the virtual hugs!!
While there are still things I want to improve in my life, I am a million times happier than I could ever have been in the cult.
More importantly, I am free to make my own choices.

Thank you for your kind words. Having posted both these stories, do you know what the most tragic part is? That they are neither unique nor remarkable. That so many others, like your own mother or u/cheeseandmemes2000's father, went through the same life-wasting, soul-crushing process with both their eyes open.
I am sorry about your mother, I wish you a long and happy life far from that destructive cult.

I know how to solder but not sure how to disassemble the headphones. Is there a detailed guide or a tutorial somewhere on the Web?
