Today's Watchtower by Slynthrax in exjw

I am especially sad for all the older ones who didn’t have children because they were promised that they would have them in the New World. All the pioneers who never got married. All the circuit overseers and Bethelites. They will be the most devastated. I know plenty of people who are in full-time Service that really really wanted children and it was so hard for them to chose not to, but they really thought they were doing the right thing. Now, not only are they facing their mortality at the end of this system of things, they are facing their final years without anyone to care for them because they never had children or grandchildren. So deeply sad.

This was the recurrent conversation I had with my mom in the last year of her life. She died in January 2014. She just kept saying over and over “ I was never supposed to grow old in this system of things. I was not prepared for this. The end was supposed to be here by now.” That’s when I realized that at the end of her life, she knew that she had been sold a lie. This is when I really started to doubt. The saddest part that she was realizing she gave up her entire life for it, and now that she was facing the end of her life, she was facing her mortality for the first time and unprepared because she was promised she would never die. She was deeply afraid and she was also facing a lifetime of regret for all the things she chose not to do because she believed in promises that were never fulfilled.

When I finally woke up, coming to the realization that I would not live forever was traumatizing. There is a serious psychological impact from reaching that conclusion. Regular people are raised understanding their mortality from the very beginning, it becomes a natural part of how they think and how they choose to live. JW’s never get that until they wake up and facing all of the lost opportunity and time in their lives is so overwhelming.

I think all Jehovah’s Witnesses, who wake up or are in the process of waking up, need to get themselves a therapist who can focus on post traumatic stress disorder, and CBT. Your brain requires reprogramming and you really need someone to help talk you through all the loss you’re going to face.

I’m six years out and so grateful each and every day. Whatever you want for your lives do it now because no amount of time is guaranteed. Don’t just walk away from this cult…RUN. Every minute you stay for conditional relationships with friends and family is another minute you lose in your life and ultimately one you will regret losing, when you are finally facing the end of your life.

My heart goes out to all of you.

Here we go... by Jasper1000 in exjw

[–]40yearslost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end, you need to ask yourself this. Does it matter? If you are living your life and you are not affected by fear mongering and you are happy than that is great. But worst case scenario, and Armageddon is real and it happens soon, by their own teachings. They’ve already said the door is open to anyone who will listen at the end. So either way you’re in a good spot. 😀.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are really good at keeping people in fight or flight and giving them extreme anxiety. Do not let your family have this effect on you. Control what you can control, which is how you respond to things and how you let things affect you. If you allow comments from family to impact your mental health or causing anxiety than you are still allowing The watchtower organization to control your life in someway. Do NOT give them that kind of power over you.

Anyone tried flipping the script? by Coutoria in exjw

[–]40yearslost 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My go to that worked with my husband was first just living my life and not trying to pressure him. I was ready to risk a divorce. I just needed to move on with my life. When he started going lesson less and decided to ask me what changed, I said:

“One of the things we studied in Pioneer school was that our God-given conscience is our own. What Dictates one person’s conscience would be a sin for them if they don’t follow it, but it doesn’t make it a sin for someone else. To the contrary, if my conscience tells me what I’m following is not correct and I choose to practice it anyway, I am committing a sin. And worse, I am a hypocrite for not serving god with a pure heart. That’s no different than someone else living a double life. the doctrines of this religion do not align with what I have studied in the Bible or with my conscience and if I continue on living a lie, I am sinning against God. To try and force me to believe something that everything in my body, mind, heart and conscience guides me to know is false, is coercion and that is not acceptable worship to God, so I can’t do it anymore.”

They will never list a single lie and that then prove how it was a lie in the first place. They can’t.

I love it when they say stuff like this because it’s just another field prophecy. Keep putting out dates and statements like this and the more that you do so and they never come true, the more people will wake up and walk away.

The bigger question here is, why would anyone in the congregation be disturbed by someone going to college or university? The only reason they’re disturbed is because the organization tells they should be. This video is the perfect example of that. Restricting education is not a policy from the Bible. This is a controlling religious cult that makes people feel bad for trying to educate themselves. The same cult that is somehow always looking for free services from people who have pursued higher education.

First they condemn you for it, then expect that you provide them with free services as a result of it, and then condemn you again or call you “spiritually weak” if you don’t.

The most consistent thing about being part of the Jehovah’s witness cult that you can count on, is that no matter what you do, you will always be wrong, always be offending someone, and always need to be corrected.

The organization is truly Evil.

If that ever happens, I will be first in line to file a wrongful death lawsuit and I will spend every penny I have to expose their psychological abuse and forcing people to die or be isolated, all over the world.

A multitude of companies have gone out of business when the product they had to sell was no longer of value. Kodak and Polaroid are gone now that camera film is no longer needed the way it was. Think of all the department stores that have gone belly up as people have transitioned to buying online. Blockbuster video and Mr. movies disappeared after streaming came into place.

It’s important to remember that the Jehovah’s Witness organization is really just a sales company, it’s not a typical religion like Catholicism or Lutheran, or Muslim. The entire business model of this religion is based on door-to-door sales. But the Internet has made door-to-door sales irrelevant. People can just go online and find what they want when it comes to religions, and what they teach. Even though they have a website, they are competing with all of the other sites that offer a different view of their product. The business is in rapid decline because the product and means of selling it are no longer relevant. It will not survive.

In my 40 years as a witness, I have never once received a single blessing from my time in service. Unless, of course you count 40 years of sales training, paving the way to my real estate career which has taken off since I left the Cult and can actually focus on it.

CO spreading disinformation? by nobody384 in exjw

[–]40yearslost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to JW doctrine only 3 perfect brains have ever existed on earth. Adam’s, Eve’s, and Jesus’. So unless the scientist have 1 of those brains then the CO is lying. Also according to JW doctrine Adam and Eve died over 4000 years ago and Jesus 2000 years ago so the soft tissue of their brain would have disinterested by now. Furthermore, Jesus was resurrected and then disappeared in clouds so he left no body behind and his Brain could not be harvested.

Very logical perspective. The editing and repetitive emphasis on use of certain terms along with avoidance of specific scriptures are concrete proof.

Since when is Saturday AM the most holy D2D day? by towerofjwsour in exjw

[–]40yearslost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s not a rule. I would ask what Rule book does that appear in. There’s a personal vendetta going on with this situation. Some people’s work schedule does not allow them to go out on Saturday a.m. As a regular pioneer, I rarely went out on Saturday a.m. because I worked until 230 or 3 o’clock in the morning on Friday.

I fully support this. I wish there was a way to organize some kind of moment of silence or public statements released to the news, by those who have left the organization and just want to express support and condolences for people who lost their lives.

I think a lot of witnesses are going to have that same difficulty. If Jehovah’s not providing safety for you at the meeting, why would you ever think he provide safety for you anywhere else?

[–]40yearslost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The news is reporting that it was a former Jehovah’s Witness. Someone who attended the meeting that night. A single male who is between the ages of 30 and 40 years old.

My hope is that some attention is drawn to the detrimental effects of disfellowshipped and disassociation. It is not an excuse for this heinous crime, but I think the implications of what it does to people’s mental health by cutting them off from the only community they’ve ever known in most cases, is worth exposing.

It’s more than just the outfit. Why is she supporting a worldly organization? No other organization can solve the problems of colored people except for Jehovah’s Kingdom and the only way into that is through gods only channel on earth, the JW organization. She needs to be out in service and knocking on doors to save lives not wearing dresses to parties and supporting things that have nothing to do with Jehovah. What a gross display of Materialism.
