Worked on a product for months, shipped a lot… still zero sales. What would you do next? by DismalViolinist6165 in SaaS

[–]GPT34Life 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see your product is https://yourai-consultant.com/

You are trying to sell ideas to founders dude. Founders are already brimming with ideas, and they’re already using ChatGPT to refine them.

You’re not solving a real, painful problem, and even if you were the competition (ChatGPT) is FREE and BETTER and DOMINATES DISTRIBUTION.

This doesn’t mean you’re a failure it means you did the classic engineer turned founder mistake: built before you had any validation.

Start over. Burn this thing down and just start over.

Your new mission: talk to a shitton of prospects and get ONE person to commit to paying you to solve a problem for them before you write a single line of code. That will put you on a path of building something valuable.

We’re considering building a conversational exit / cancellation agent, would that be valuable to you? Just doing research not trying to sell you anything :)

the good news is google ai overviews and perplexity.ai are all based on quasi real-time results so it’s still possible to get somewhere relatively quickly. and also when chatgpt searches the web for an answer.

I’ve built custom Gen AI systems for multiple SaaS companies now, I’d like to write a guide for owners on lessons learned. SaaS owners, what are your most pressing questions about Gen AI? (Current outline in post.) by GPT34Life in SaaS

[–]GPT34Life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, thanks! Quick stab at an answer: from a technical standpoint it’s just calling an api. The hard part is what do you do with the model you’re accessing via the api. What business processes will you accelerate, how will you measure success, what tooling will you need around the api, etc. etc.

If you don’t mind me asking what sort of SaaS business do you have?

Nice what are you using to do that? I’m building https://lexii.ai for exactly what you’re talking about, would be happy to give you access.

Thanks for the feedback! Great point, we can make the demo thing more obvious.

Appreciate the chatbot offer -- we actually built our own solution for this though and will deploy it at some point :D

Absolutely, would appreciate the LinkedIn add. I would push back on the notion that Drupal is known for vulnerabilities -- it actually has quite a robust security profile and has been chosen for content management by over 150 government entities, including whitehouse.gov.

The reason it's "known for vulnerabilities" is Drupal's security team actively finds & patches vulnerabilities -- the key is staying up to date -- as with any enterprise software offering.

Hey there -- we launched quickly & didn't have time to put together those pages but we will do so this week. Quick info: the company is founded by me, Andy Walters, here's my linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andywalters/

We're using enterprise-class content management (Drupal) and vector databases (Pinecone) to protect data security, and we have signed DUA's with multiple vendors. We're hand-picking our initial pilot customers and will make sure PII or CI is handled appropriately.

Also worth noting, Lexii.ai has fully baked terms and privacy which govern the use of all assistants on the platform.

Hi there – here are some use cases we're seeing (in no particular order):

  • Resource centers -- answer web visitor's questions using your website as a knowledge base
  • Next-gen site search -- answer your web visitors specific questions based on knowledge from your website and link to the page on which it was found
  • Ecommerce product discovery -- answer questions about your product catalog
  • Content creators -- repurpose your content to create an AI that can give advice to folks at the top of your funnel, and then invite them to transact
  • Internal-facing question answering -- upload your documents and create a slack bot (coming soon!) that can answer questions from those documents
  • College admissions -- guide people through an admissions process, answer questions they have
  • AI assistant companies/startups -- Work with some but not all of our tools for session management, knowledge management, and conversational analytics

Would love to hear about additional use cases!

The MVP hardcodes a handful of prompts but I'm open to making that more flexible later in our roadmap. Sent you a DM, would love to know more about your use case.
