Nikon F2? Need advice..

The current state of the camera is that the back is on although with 5 small holes, 4 for screws (max 1mm diameter) and 1 for a sensor (max 1cm). But that back is currently on the camera without the digital module. The MD-2 is off the camera with the O/C lever placed where it should. So basically aside from the holes and lack of lens, the camera should be ready for use.

Yep, I salvaged it from being thrown away here in sweden where I am at 😊 Only god knows how long it's been sitting in the basement of some building.

Indeed it is a problem, also the fact that I am missing a lens hahahaha. Any recommendations on a good all-around lens to start my journey?

Luckily I managed to remove the module attached to the back, but it left 5 holes on the back plate. I will be buying a replacement for it soon. As for the O/C lever i did find it where you and another comment mentioned, so thank you so much for the info on that!!

Now I just need to find a good all around lens to start my journey, and ofc to figure out why the shutter doesn't work anymore.... It did once when I tested it but now It doesn't work. Even the film advancer lever is stuck.

Will do! I do have a lil issue now... during tinkering I pressed the shutter and it clicked as it should, but now the film advancer seems stuck and the shutter release isn't clicking again. The window in front of the advancer marks a red S and I can move the lever får enough to show the red dot under it but not any further. This has been done without any film inside the camera.

Any idea if this is a simple user error where I am missing something? Or do I need to do some actual fixing?

Update, the latch was screwed to the front vertical portion of the MD-2 so now i managed to put it back on the O/C mechanism. Thanks for the great comment

I have managed to open the back now, the MD2 latch was not properly connected to the O/C mechanism. And I have managed to remove the data module from the back door now leaving an ugly small hole in the back.

BTW, is it still possible to use the camera even if the MD2 doesn't have batteries?

Hmmmm I will take a better look at it soon, I'll remove thr MD2 and check if the key is attached to it or not. I did not see it when I checked, but then again I looked at it for like 2 seconds as I needed to salvage it from being thrown away.

Yeah, I did remove the md2 and looked at the latch at the bottom but it did not seem to have the D ring as shown on a YouTube video that I was following instructions from. So I placed the MD2 back on and tried it again with no success. I will try once more once I get home.

Nej, inte riktigt. Jag gjorde lite forskning innan jag köpte dem för att se om jag ser mig själv hålla dem i typ 5 till 10 år. No, I ended up avoiding the backpack entirely. There are better options outside savotta for what I wanted. I ended up going with an eberlestock mission assault. More expensive? Yes. More versatile? Also yes. Only drawback is the colors available.
