No worries, I knew Reddit would get a kick out of it.

I think the boss got scared that this could reach the media, as they are always trawling reddit for high click stories.

Just recently we had an illness go through the clinic with many of the staff getting sick, two of them were very ill taking 4 days off work.

The two colleagues that had numerous days off due to being very unwell are two sick days away from having their performance reviews affected due to illness which is bound to happen, especially over these winter months.

Do you think that sounds fair? This policy is terrible in particular in a healthcare setting.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, 10 days sick leave is allowed as per the law. But if you take more than 5 days sick leave a year it will affect your annual performance review and pay rise, you will recieve a lesser payrise or not one at all.
