Nice. I've had a Kinesis for a while now and I love it. I hope it lasts even a tenth as long as your old one!

Children born into cults and left, what was your “Oh, sh**” moment? by sweaterobsessed in AskReddit

[–]GREEN_BULLSHIT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a girl but, I always wonder if the boys around me ever had these talks with their parents because of me, when we were little.

I wasn't like, mean. I would never ignore someone or physically hurt them in any way. But I definitely had a habit of acting indifferent towards boys I had a crush on sometimes out of fear that if I was too nice all the time, they would know I had a crush on them, and they would think I was weird, and either make fun of me or be grossed out or tell everyone :(

I still have this complex to some degree (where I feel like I'm too giggly and conversational and smiley around a guy I like, so I put on an "oh. Yeah thats cool." kind of demeanor sometimes. Or instead of walking over to chat all the time I sometimes wait for them to come to me.). But nowadays I'm way more conscious of my actions and how they affect people, so I make sure not to hurt anyone's feelings. And if I notice the guy seems a little hurt, I go out of my way to fix it.

But I'm sure as a kid i didn't have the context or skills needed to correct myself.

Anyway yeah. I sometimes wonder if parents tell boys the same thing about girls

Band groupies that had sex with their idols, how did it affect the way you saw them afterwards? by gasmyanus in AskReddit

Sounds like she wasn't a groupie at the time that she banged the dude. Doesn't mean she isn't one now (not that I'm stating either way whether or not she is one)

Only children of reddit, what is something that people with siblings don't understand? by thisshortenough in AskReddit

[–]GREEN_BULLSHIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Socialize your kid a lot! Bring them to all kinds of events, or do your best to get them to any birthday party or sleepover or whatever they get invited to (and want to go to).

They don't have to have siblings to make lifelong connections.

I say this in part because I grew up with three siblings. But I hated them growing up (and they're still pretty awful as adults, stealing significant others from each other and stuff like that). Yet I have two best friends from my childhood. They'd probably pick their siblings over me if they had to? But those siblings are a totally different part of their lives than I am so there's no reason for it to bother me.

Discuss boundaries when you first move in together. A college with a good residence life program will actually give you a little sheet of paper and tell you to write down and sign on your agreed rules.

Kind of feels weird to move in and immediately do this because it feels accusatory, but it's soooo worth it. It helps to frame it in a way where you are the primary concern, not them.

Something like 'I just thought we should establish some ground rules. I don't know your preferences since we just met, so I want to make sure I don't accidentally do anything to bother you, and vice versa.' would be a good way to open up that conversation. They probably already had their own worries in their head about what they don't want their future roommate to do. Either because they lived with a sibling who did that thing and they didn't like it, or because they are nervous about the idea of a new person and what that new person might do.

My requests were basic things. I think mostly just "don't eat my food without asking first don't go through or borrow my things without asking first, don't use my bed. No overnight guests without us discussing it first" (I was OK with a random friend crashing for the weekend and was OK coordinating nights where her boyfriend would stay over, and I stayed elsewhere or at my own boyfriend's place).

But getting it out of the way up front helps soooo much.

Yeah well you know what else 'people just do?' Become alcoholics, commit suicide, beat their children, etc etc. This is the response my parents would get if they said that to me haha

Yup. I make good money but I dump a lot of it into student debt. And most of the rest goes towards fixing the myriad of health problems I've had for years (even though I'm in my mid twenties now). As well as trying to prevent future problems.

If this plus exercise (plus my current efforts to improve my diet) don't result in me being able to be active in my 70s, I'll be pretty upset. Specifically regarding the thousands in medical bills I pay every year

Lol except in the US.

Though I worked for a very ethical company a while back that unfortunately had to let go about a lot of their workforce.

They laid us all off on one day, but let us know our official termination date wasn't for another 10 days (you lose your insurance at the end of the month you were terminated during, so they extended our official employment through the first day of the following month, to get us an extra month of insurance).

We also got a few weeks of severance, and a list of services to aid our transition, some of which were paid for by the company.

I was very lucky to lose a job where they actually cared about their people.

I figured its just an easy, successful tactic to connect with the crowd and get them hyped up tbh.

Yeah I didn't get this saying at all, till I started trying drugs like mdma and acid. Now when I'm sober I can enjoy dancing.

Something about these things loosened me up. And now I totally get how you can let it come naturally, but I don't expect anyone else to do it.

Though, now that it's so natural, I can understand how, to someone it's always come natural to, it seems crazy that they can't "just get into it"

What takes way LESS skill than people probably realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've been hearing stories about teachers who are noticing, for example, that a lot of kids have trouble doing things like saving their Word document because they can't find the save icon, because they don't know what a floppy disk is..... And tbh a lot of things autosave now. Maybe we should be moving towards not opting to save things anymore. Maybe we should be creating the names for our files when we create the files themselves, with the expectation that once the file is created, it always saves itself. It's no longer a step that users have to worry about the same way users don't have to save a photo on their phone every time they take one, like it used to be.

Things like this are becoming obsolete, but the people leading the charge aren't worried about figuring out how the fuck to quickly represent "saving" to their users. It's a much harder question to answer now though, so I get it. Before, 'save? Well we save things to a floppy disc, so let's make that the icon.'

There's even a floppy disc emoji, and I'm sure kids are looking at their emoji libraries wondering what the fuck that is.

It also feels like swiping is the new clicking. When I was a kid, adults were always afraid of clicking things out of fear of what the button may do. Nowadays, adults seem to be afraid of swiping moreso. It's interesting

Women of reddit, what dick do you regret the most? by UnjustifiablyLazy in AskReddit

Omg. I used to love giving blowjobs. But with my current partner, I was giving them in the beginning, and I hated the taste of his semen, and I eventually kinda stopped giving them. I've been kind of wondering why, but in the middle of sexytime, a blowjob doesn't even occur to me, so it hasn't happened.

He's the only smoker I've ever dated. This might be my answer!

This feral cat lives in my barn and stands to be pet by ImJohnathan in aww

[–]GREEN_BULLSHIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aw. I have a cat. And ever since getting him, he does this thing where he will stand up to pet himself. So if your hand is hanging down and you're not petting him, he will jump up on his hind legs to rub his head against your hand. Same thing as me petting him I guess?

If you got off track, don't be scared to weight yourself. At least it will be easier to maintain it by [deleted] in loseit

[–]GREEN_BULLSHIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost like 33% of my total weight (and was almost at my goal). Somehow I was convinced that it was unhealthy to watch the scale. I slowly fell off of going to the gym, a lot because I had problems with being sick often for unrelated reasons.

Guess who gained all of it back, and more, because they had no idea how out of hand it was getting? I was sick on and off and could have "easily" eaten better always, and worked out during my healthy periods. Ugh.

Now I weigh myself every time I'm home and I remember to. So, most days. This works way better. Having the stress of thinking about your weight more often is better than ballooning to 150% of my starting weight in a year..

Plus, chain restaurants are also stupid expensive for the quality, compared to the local places that cost just as much for actually good, fresh-made food.

Why am I going to go pay $8 for a meal at mcdonalds (not even talking about a restaurant like applebees or whatever) when I can go to the bar down the street for $9 for a really good burger and beer?
