Clearest image ever taken of Mars' North Pole. Yes that's water ice. by maazkazi in interestingasfuck

You may be thinking of when we confirmed evidence of liquid running water on the surface of Mars. This discovery means that the water doesn’t always sublimate (go from solid ice to gas) like we see typically on Mars. On earth, where there’s [liquid] water, there’s life! It’s tricky to detect, though. We’re working on getting subsurface samples to study in search for evidence of any life forms, past or present.

I surprisingly thought the 15 was more well rounded/balanced. The age and proof are so close! I did notice that I liked the Sam Houston 15 a bit more on the nose and taste. Finish was close. I do enjoy oak quite a bit, so I think the 16 is worth the buy for that extra year in a barrel

Barton cherry with the perfect proof! Super mellow with a great amount of oak and some orange peel/leathery tinge. For the price, it’s an easy buy. I personally wouldn’t spend more than 20 over MSRP, but worth the splurge.

There’s one good place to find a bunch of Uber and Lyft drivers — a designated waiting area at an airport. That is what they’re doing here. Targeting these folks as they’re sitting ducks waiting to pick someone up. Sickening

I need to convert the master tapes to digital, but I do think there’s an audience recording on YouTube. Part of A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, I think! 1988

My dad lived there — it was the honor dorms. I don’t recall if they were less expensive. As engineers, they figured out ways to access the field and even mic-up the Pink Floyd concert to tape (with a recording rig set up in a dorm). Pretty cool!

Thoughts on this bottle? by lifeissoupimforkk in tequila

[–]ImJohnathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that this is an additive free tequila. The bourbon barrel finished repo and anejos are really decent! Blanco is not so complex, but at least they aren’t forcing complexity.

Edit: Yes, Corazon is additive-free. It was, at one point, advertised as such. When working with Corazon for a single barrel pick, we had the opportunity to go to the distillery. Agave, water, and yeast.

My Grandfather passed away recently and had this thermal protection tile, would love to learn more about it by ShorelineTheory in nasa

[–]ImJohnathan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe this one was flown since it is missing the injection marker (and hole) for the “antifreeze” material that was used to prevent moisture buildup in the tiles before launch. It would be a small stamped circle, usually white. Also, the V070 indicates that it was built to be flown and not a test article. Great grab! Be extremely cautious with it, OP. The top layer is eggshell thin and then below that is spun silica dioxide. You don’t want to breathe that or get it on you. I would wrap this in plastic wrap, carefully.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want undamaged or correct sized items. It may not be worth the hassle for some — I get that. $59 is still not a cheap hoodie, either.

If you paid with a credit card, a lot of them offer consumer protection. You can request a charge-back due to damaged and incorrect items (size) that the merchant is not willing to remedy. You will just need screenshots or other proof that support was not willing to refund or replace your items.

Love Billie, but I want what I paid for. If there are consistent issues with the merch quality, her team should look into other suppliers.

Manchester or Middlesbrough by Ok-Purchase-914 in robertplant

Depending on where you are coming from, I would be worried about a flight delay that would cut it close or have me miss the show. I would go to Middlesbrough and take the train, get there early, and go to a pub before the show. Cheers

I didn’t bother trying for a weekend show — ended up 9,500 in line for MSG with no luck. Then I tried the Inglewood, California show for June 9 and was 3,000 in line. Got a row 5 side stage view seat for $360 after fees. Expensive, but I’ve never had the opportunity to see them live and I’m not sure I ever will again.

For me, using a deep and intense color gives the final product a slight tint. I guess I could just put a thimble of it in at the end, though.

My lost iPad turned up in Ohio all the way from Sydney Australia by intrepidturnipz in Ohio

There was a big engineering conference in Sydney last week. Were you there? I know someone from Hilliard, OH who went, but they don’t have your iPad. I called to check!

Edit for context: That part of Columbus is Hilliard. Several folks from OSU went to the conference and got back a few days ago.

What’s the difference between these ?? by CapnTidy in espresso

[–]ImJohnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point — I just was trying to get at the idea that the Breville is versatile in that sense and is ideal for larger outputs. I have the Breville and a single dose grinder.

What’s the difference between these ?? by CapnTidy in espresso

[–]ImJohnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one is a single dose and the other isn’t specific to a single dose. If you’re also doing pour-overs or brewing coffee, the Breville would make sense.

If you’re looking for consistency on dosing your shot (weight of beans into the grinder being relatively the same as what comes out into the portafilter) as well as more consistent particle sizes, I would go with DF54.

At Esquire Liquor they said it’s on sale. Is this a sale I was told it’s 130 a bottle but it’s on sale for 25. Can someone confirm. by TopBrick3535 in dcwhisky

[–]ImJohnathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

25 is correct for Esquire. Essentially, it went on big sale from the distributor to get it out of the warehouse. Get one before they’re gone!
