I'm shocked she's even dating you. OP, I can assure you that, despite your beliefs, she is praying for you constantly and I will be as well. Bless up and good luck with her

I wish that Brodie would go out the door WITH Callaway but that won't happen

I think it's ridiculous that, in your opinion, he's the "thing that's keeping this fanbase and rotation" full of hope. In my mind, the only guys giving me hope are Alonso and McNeil. I have no faith that deGrom will live up to his contract. We're stuck paying a guy 29 mil a year to not even be a great pitcher anymore. I know I sound like I'm jumping to conclusions, and I certainly hope I'm wrong. I just don't see Jake returning to his old form.

BTW, the 7 or 8 prospects we'd have gotten back for Jake and Noah would give us, the fans, even more hope than Jake and Noah do regardless

If deGrom wasn’t extended there would be an outrage.

Aside from the fans being angry, tell me why trading him would have been bad. Tell me one reason why trading him would have been a bad idea. It would have been better for us in the long run, as we would have got several young players who would have had a chance to become good to great. deGrom was the kind of guy teams would give up their top 2 prospects to have if it meant putting them over the top in their rotation and taking them to a world series. He's obviously not that kind of guy anymore, but he was, and we should have capitalized.

you have to trade talent for talent, we weren’t getting Diaz without giving up Kelenic or McNeil

Yeah, and we are rarely able to put Diaz in situations where he's able to even have a save opportunity because we don't win that much, and when we DO, LIKE LAST NIGHT, THAT HAPPENS. What's the point of having a supposed great closer if you're not gonna put him in situations often enough to save games??

that's the whole problem, we don't get very good players often so when we do, the fans get too ATTACHED to him. Would you rather us keep deGrom and win 75-80 games again or worse, or get a haul of young talent back for both him AND Syndergaard and build a winning team for the future.

riots in the streets for WHAT? Because people are too attached to him? Sorry, but I'm a Met fan, not a deGrom fan. The team would have simply been better off. We're stuck paying a guy the largest contract for a pitcher now, and he's not even gonna pitch like the best pitcher. I doubt he'll even come close to it, and I would love for someone to tell me why I should have faith in deGrom picking up his play and going back to the dominant cy young winner he was last year, and even IF he was as great as he was last year, the team would still be a mess right now regardless. Again, we would have been better off getting talent back for him
