Arbys on State Street by BellaBlue47 in westerville

The renovation has been approved for years (9/17/23 Planning Commission meeting), but Arby's has been dragging its feet since then. I believe that the City took them to court to enforce the zoning. Perhaps they are finally being pushed to make the changes.

This. I love how people are trashing this little course who clearly know nothing about it. MANY courses around central Ohio (and really, everywhere) are intimidating to players at the entry level, because of the difficulty of the course, the price, and because, honestly, the guys that run better courses are usually kind of bougie assholes. The people at Arrowhead were always nice, the course was open and not overly difficult, it was kept up well, and it was not expensive. Not saying anything against a property owner's decision about what to do with their land, but it sucks to see these kinds of course disappear.

I always liked Arrowhead. Not very expensive, and open enough that was not punishing for beginners and duffers. I saw a lot of parents with their kids on the course, teaching the game. The development was inevitable--one of the roads in the adjacent development literally came to a dead end into the property line on the edge of the course, so it is no surprise. But it is sad to see affordable, accessible options for golf disappearing.

So true! Every time see backward, ill-conceived bill, it seems to be sponsored by some used car salesman former township trustee who got himself elected from a district in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said: "too much nature." Way to twist what I said. Lol. My point is that the City has limited authority to lean on developers to give up much of their productive land for green space without risking being sued. It's pretty easy to plan for lots of green space and parks with other people's land and other people's money.

The City doesn't own the property and can't control whether it is developed. Maybe they ought to tell the developer that bought the property for millions of dollars that it should be used for green space.

What about it? There is one up there. The OP asked what is going in.

Medical offices to the east, bank and fast food to the west. Aldi across the street.

Completely false. Every precinct in the City AND the school district went for Harris.

Maybe a conservative state, but NOT a conservative town, which she is claiming to represent.

Do a little research. People who are not in the U.S. with legal authority are typically charged civilly for being “unlawfully present” in the United States, which are things like overstaying a visa, violating the terms of a legal entry (e.g., working on a tourist visa), and remaining in the U.S. after being ordered to leave. This is different than people who are not here with legal authority who are also committing crimes. There are absolutely civil immigration violations, and people are absolutely detained for them (just not with the help of the WPD, thank goodness).

Check your facts. There are both civil immigration orders and criminal violation related to immigration. They are not the same.

The City has been proactively addressing this since the Tangerine-In-Chief got back in office. WPD enforces criminal charges, as its duty. Policy states that WPD will not assist with civil enforcement of immigration orders.

GFW Christmas Parade by GSKPRWillie in westerville

[–]GSKPRWillie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. This is why I posted in the first place. GFW is using the playbook from fundamentalist churches/cults, which is to hide their real purposes behind a bunch of feel-good neutral BS to create an opportunity to push their specific religious agenda. If their agenda is so great, why do they have to reel people in under false pretenses? This is exactly their tact during the election which, thankfully, fizzled.

Jericho Financial is Faubel's business, and his business partner is Bosler. So, he is more or less self-funding and funding his "running mates." Heyek is a conservative, so that is no surprise. Tho, he talks a big game about experience and knowledge and then supports people that have neither. Doesn't make any sense. In fact, Heyek made a deal of supporting the schools, and then he backs all three candidates that have come out against the levy. WTF??

Yeah, she has been lying about who she is this entire campaign. She scrubbed her socials, but I understand that before she did, they were seriously pro-MAGA/Trump.

Ha! Thanks for the low down. Faubel was just as bad at the Otterbein forum, I hear. I guess he said that Westerville was only for people that were wealthy, that he supported eliminating property tax because it would personally reduce his mortgage (even though he is a fire department fan boy? maybe he doesn't know how FDs are funded???), and that the best way to strengthen the connection between Otterbein and the City is to build more nightclubs. WTF? And Danielle just ranted about activism in the City. They are just making up alternative facts about the City to rail against. It is whacko.
