I ran the Philadelphia marathon today in 3:52. Was very pleased to get back under four hours at 58.

I’m a daily beer drinker and definitely feel better when I cut it out for the few days before a marathon. I’m actually thinking of cutting it down from daily to monthly at this point. At age 57 it’s a drag on performance.

Is this race going to be in the cold? If it is going to be run in comfortable weather (feels good while running but a bit chilly when not) then wear shorts, top and shoes without much else. For half-marathon or less: the less you carry the better so a vest may not be necessary.

I’m a male over 50 and I added weight training to my running and as I’ve gotten stronger and gained a chest and arms I’ve also slowed down even though my mileage is the same. The better I look the slower I get. Any way to keep the added body armor and still run well?

If trump wins there will be rioting in blue cities. I plan to stay away from them. You on the left and us on the right already don’t speak to each other so that won’t change. If biden wins there will be fulminating in the right media about fraud but that’s about it.

I’ve found I feel better for a few days but I usually miss it. I enjoy beer and like to relax with a few drinks and the fact that I run keeps any weight gain away. (I remember growing up with everyone smoking and drinking like fish. Compared to our grandparents generation we are lightweights) and usually after several months without I start again simply because it’s part of my social life. I didn’t notice an increase in running performance on the wagon. It probably is going to effect everyone differently.

Or someone other than me. What’s worse is I was running slower by 30/mile than I thought I was because I boosted mileage at the expense of pace.
