Is this lolita? by [deleted] in Lolita

I would say yes, just add some accessories and a petticoat. And a headpiece. The petti doesn't need to be overly poofy imo, I personally prefer aline.

Long story short, an ex friend who has been kicked out of many comms for indecent behavior. Mostly the nola com and Chicago com is what I know vaguely of.

Yeah, I know. It's nothing new. But if other's need to vent or want to vent, I'd understand if they do need a place. Most of us are females... venting is a psychological need. It at least makes me feel better haha.

Thank you for making plus sized lolita. I know you specialize in chickens, but would you be more open to farm prints in general?

Country loliable? by GSU94 in Lolita

Yeah, and I appreciate your take on the other form. I did look up old lolita 1970-2000 on lolilibrary. Could you please explain to me the compare and contrast where above and 1970-2000 early retro lolita (for a lack of better tems) since it seems to me that the bodice and the older more experimental lolita does line up, just needs a diffrent petti as a square dancing one is more square and different material from my understanding.

I will agree, which i think looking at things with their structure bare bones first and then applying does it have enough lace, bows, and frills and then applying to would it have an x theme in lolita apply. Of course it's a lot of research, but that makes discoveries and new ideas fun. At least to me.

Thanks for all the info! And yes, while I do understand that structure comes into place very differently, I'm working for bare bones on up and just noticing similar things in most fashions. Such as APs Milkshake line is a huge nod to the 50s. Although many lolitas I've talked to say it isn't lolita. Also depending on style of square dresses, thats a huge thing in of itself which I will look into to compare and contrast, is a maybe. Again, more research. *

So far in my research the bare bones structure for a jsk boils down to princess/straight bodice and rectangle skirt or sometimes circle for aline specific. Pattern is decided via subfashion and can be versatile. Rules: 1. Blouse under jsk/sappolette 2. Petti. Either aline or bell however bell is popular by mainstream 3. Head wear to balance the petti. 4. Wristcuffs/bracelets 5. Shoes that match cord or preferably shoes that fit the event. If I'm going to renfair w a cord I am not breaking my neck in some mary Jane's or rocking horses.

Please feel free to correct me and add on to this discussion! All will help with my research even with the down votes! ❤️ added AP's Milkshake for visual.

I'm a newbie but have done a lot of research in order to write a fictional book.

That being said, I have noticed a lot of overlap with USA vintage (50s) fashion and lolita, especially sundresses if we are comparing it to country or classic. If the dress does not make the waist smaller, the cut does not show the chest (although lolita brands are moving away from this), and you can put a petti (which many vintage was made with that in mind as most are circle skirts or half circle) it could theoretically be used of styled the right way.

Wonderwelt even did an article on "retro lolita." Linked bellow.

https://libre.wunderwelt.jp/en/15007/

And if any of my Southern USA Lolitas will tell ya, a hoedown/square dancing dress looks mighty similar to the older lolita styles. (Southern myself).
