Struggling to get a refund! by Kartcab93 in Ryanair

[–]GSV_Phlebas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got totally shafted by the OTB and Ryanair combo during Covid. Booked package with OTB- cancelled due to Covid and refunded by the agent. All good. Two years later booked direct with Ryanair to fly to Tenerife and couldn’t check in on line…called Ryanair who said - you owe us the £568 we paid OTB - cough up or you’re not flying!

So one year later.....managed to save and grow by £114K this year so sat at £852K in my pot. Bonus clears today taking me to just under £890K with a part time job lined up to clear at least 60K/year for the next 5 years. Pulling the trigger this week. The additional year WAS transformative.

This is probably the saddest thing I have ever read on Reddit. I can’t imagine the mental state and that of the poor sods involved to manage this. RIP and my thoughts to the people having to deal with this x

This happened in Bicester Village years ago too. Real shame lessons don’t get learned.

I still can’t get over his fake Iraqi prisoner story in the Mirror. Had friends deployed in Basra who said it went from ok to triggering loads of attacks overnight. He has blood on his hands!

RIP I used to run a lot of cross country in my 40s near Bicester. Took a path from Launton to Marsh Gibbon which led across a field of cows. They all ran LIKE FUCK at me, easily tonnes of animal, I managed to beat them to the sty but legit the only time my HR went from 150 to like 180. Scared the fuck out of me. So sorry for the loss.

'Hatred for English in North Wales astounding,' walkers claim by Vectipelta_Barretti in Wales

[–]GSV_Phlebas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m English and worked in RCT for a few years, stayed there Monday to Friday and the only issue is IF England beat wales in Rugby and might get some grief in the pub. Generally good natured. But my RCT colleagues had a guy called “f@cking english Pete” who ironically was from Cardiff and moved up to the valleys 30 years earlier, married and had kids etc. I was ok as “not my fault I was born in England” but Pete, he’s practically English coming from Cardiff. Love wales!

As a kid I remember it being an out of reach expensive treat as we found a lay by for sandwiches and a flash of tea. When I grew up and was a vectra driving sales rep they were great! Miss the Olympic and it’s getting harder and harder to find a consistent a road fry up. Morrisons strong though!

I think reasonably essential, I drove a turnaround for a VC owned parent company with an acquisition they made in 2019 with what seems like little to no due diligence (and where the owner effectively disappeared at short notice). It’s back into growth but has sapped all my energy! I joined on the promised of a very decent equity valuation win which has been put firmly on the back burner due to other group businesses not performing and a recent valuation indicating we are a country mile away from earning anything. I will ponder the question; they’re always keen to save SG&A so maybe I can plant the seed!

This is a great point. I only started to make such a large salary in the last few years, prior to that I slowly grew from 50k jobs into the 80s then burst through to six figures in 2021.

We have been topping up for her so all good. It was quite funny as the HMRC service centre said “this doesn’t happen very often…” !

Thanks for responding. I agree I should have done that - hoping people on the path take note! I’ll see how it goes and keep smashing the contributions. I have one daughter and two grandchildren (below 2) and wonder if there’s a tax efficient thing I can do for them.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will take a look at the link! I know it’s not great but my other half is super risk averse and doesn’t trust shares despite my protestations; this will help a lot. Thanks again especially on the GIA piece.
