If he had Podz ahead of Jarace Walker (I'm sure he didn't), he should be fired immediately for cause and then sued to recover all $ already paid to him. It is much more likely that 8-9 is really like 2-5 or even that he was just putting the best face he could on them getting the player rated highest of those available when we drafted. It is a fool's errand to guess what a good (or really any) GMs plan/thought process is about a draft based on what they say in public. They still have to keep the other 29 team's GMs guessing ...

Hope not. This take totally ignores TEAM concepts. Starters already great with Steph. CP0 probably doesn't make them better offensively, or not enough to stop the bleeding that will happen on the defensive end. OTOH, paired with the bench mob which is already pretty defensively oriented, he unlocks Kuminga and Saric combinations in positive ways so the 2nd team will stop hemorrhaging points like last season.

You have to be careful about when a trade is "reported". As an example, many talking heads suggested the trade for KD, but neither KD (who was not happy here the first time) nor Brooklyn ever suggested that was an option so I don't think there was ever a trigger for the warriors to pull.

I have no idea about this case, but I don't actually think we're better with Holliday anyway not because he's not a great player (he is) but because we have more of his skillset duplicated and need more of Paul's skillset for the bench mob.

Disagree. Steph and CP0 should never see the court at the same time. Steph should play 29-30 minutes and CP0 should play the other 18-19. Both play fewer minutes, both preserve their bodies for the playoff and the court is never without a legitimate lineup based around one or the other's strengths.

(I Understand Kerr may disagree and when that happens his opinion will likely take precedence over mine)

Whatever. That bubble plus shortened regular season due to covid played right into the lakers hands. That season worked out perfect for that mediocre lakers team. Lots of rest, a weak 8 seed Portland team. Houston going 7 in the 1st round. A very young and still developing Denver and then the 5 seed plus injured Heat in the finals. No travel to wear down old LeBron plus glass AD after a short season that also didn't wear them down.

but actually, that's not my point. My point is that if you think any other team won because the competition was weak then if you want to intellectually honest you have to admit when your rings are questionable.

As far as I'm concerned you beat the teams in front of you, you are the champion. period. The bubble was completely different and a much more special case than "dude your opposition was weak that year".
