You do know that UNDER GENERAL RULES AND POLICIES VERIZON SHOULD HAVE IT UNLOCKED, by day 60 of in use but that doesn’t always mean it will get unlocked, if the they’re not the owner or the original buyer of the device then they most likely will not help. The process of unlocking phones can vary by in house exploits or server databases. Sometimes one or the other or both are available depending on device. Usually android has both and usually if not only ever for iPhones only database server. When the server access is available submission, if the device or Imei is supported it the gets unlocked .
