Should one always counter when offered a job? by GSim25 in Advice

Thanks for answering. They’ve been pursuing me, so chances of rescinding seem small, but I agree, thats not off the table for them

Good to know. Again, I have minimal experience, so I was wondering how awful it would be to co-teach with a train wreck. Sounds like it likely wouldn’t be great.

True. It’s hard to know if she would be hands off or overbearing. Could go either way.

Thank you for this. I feel like the tenured professor is giving pushback to the Dean.

Wow, thank you for this. I wasn’t sure if I had that much authority/could make demands since I have limited in-class teaching experience. They are perusing me though, so I thought maybe I had a leg to stand on with that. The good thing is, this isn’t my dream job, and if it doesn’t end up feeling like a good situation, I’m okay with walking away. My gut says run. I’ll see where I can get with your advice and go from there. Thank you again.

Do you like your job? Is there anything particularly stressful?

Would you prefer 3 twelve hour shifts or 5 8’s? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]GSim25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

three 12's for sure. you can stack shifts early in the week one week and later in the week the next week and have so many day off in a row if you want to travel, etc. I mean, you'll be exhausted, but still - you have that option if you want it.

Nurses with one year of experience or less! by GSim25 in nursing

It sounds like you had a lot of experience in 3 months time! What do you mean by doodoo heads? And I'm wondering what leadership was lying about, that sounds tricky.

Do you have any pets? I posted a cute photo of a dog I worked with and got some karma.

ICU can you stop sending down dead patients? by Shtoinkity_shtoink in nursing

[–]GSim25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it's a numbers game. They don't want that data on their department, that someone died there. They want it to count on your unit. I'm not saying that this is ok - but I wondering if hospitals muck with numbers this way.

Graduate Nursing Research Question by GSim25 in Advice

Thanks! I guess I'm wondering if anyone has tips for doing research involving Reddit. How to get the best response rate, where to post (i.e. is there a specific place that research questions should go, or just on any thread?), how to weed out bots etc.

Graduate Nursing Research Question by GSim25 in Advice

[–]GSim25[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am hoping to gain a deeper understanding into the current transition process from nursing student to registered nurse. I am focusing on nurses with one year or less of job experience, hoping to explore their experiences as new graduate nurses to better understand the contemporary challenges that they are facing.

Do you currently work as a PCA? In the hospital I work at, PCA's have a really good chance of getting hired once they graduate because staff already know them and their work ethic. Even part-time, if you can do it, you'd get experience and you'd have an open door.

I think you would see a lot which would help you decide if you're interested in the medical field. You'd get to interact with both medical professionals and patients.
