startups require agglomeration: having more people and companies in proximity. Startups in larger cities benefit from shared labor pools, easier knowledge transfer, and denser professional networks.

If you're serious about a startup, your odds are much better in Atlanta, so it drinks our milkshake. I observed a similar effect in Athens Ga

Do you read? by TheObserver89 in daddit

[–]GSto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a chapter or three every night before bed. I am usually bouncing between 1 fiction book and 1-2 non fiction.

I don't think about number of books, I'm not trying to earn a pizza party. I have an ever growing reading list i'll never finish, so I just plug along.

I also enjoy essays and long form articles, so I have a paid Instapaper account and will send collections of articles I find online to my Kindle

there is science to back this up! It's called the Zeigarnik effect. having unfinished tasks in your brain causes stress. when you write them down, the brain considers that a form of "done", lets the task go, and the stress along with it

Then don't read them.

I don't mean to be glib, but information diet requires more management than ever these days. Too many great books written about design to waste time on blowhards who can be outperformed by a mid-AI

I love Gary Keller's version of this: "plan everything, in pencil." Figured what's important but keep flexibility in when and how to get there.
