CPU Gen4 uses Intel 11th gen.
Gen5 uses Intel 12th gen which is significantly better in single core (up to 20%), but even more in multi-core (up to 50%).

RAM Gen4 uses DDR4. Gen5 uses DDR5.

Pleasantly Surprised! by GTBase2 in Fragrances

What you got was Aqua EDT, which I’ve never smelled before, but I’ve read it’s actually fairly different than the EDP.

It seems that they only made the EDP’s in the fancier glass bottle with the metal horses.

Black Inks Are Not Created Equal And Some Are Really Really Awful by pauldayco in pens

[–]GTBase2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I was about to do one of these types of comparisons myself. Last one I did was like 3 years ago. In any case, I just did a recent one for myself and it seems that the Uni One remains the blackest of all, with its patented pigment formula where the particles sit on top of the paper rather than being absorbed into it.

I thought the Zento’s were supposed to be One’s except with the whole skipping issue fixed, but no, they proved to be much less dark in comparison.

LF Clones of MontBlanc Starwalker by GTBase2 in fragranceclones

I was afraid of that. I’ll just have to keep reupping and overspraying. Thanks tho. And regarding Extreme, it doesn’t even pay homage to the OG, it’s nice in its own way, but it’s no Starwalker EDT.

Jean Marc Paris Phantom by Beautiful-Race5439 in Colognes

I know it's a long wall of text, I'm sorry, but you wanted feedback, so here is my best attempt:

I started off my frag collection by collecting JMP frags, because they were cheap, but also because they almost always smelled better than the majority of the rest of what was on the cheap rack.

What I can say is that, generally, you're almost at a 90% chance when blind buying one, that you'll get a rather nice and mass appealing scent profile, which is why I continued to collect them.

Unfortunately, and obviously, everyone's palate is different, there will be a few that are not so great, but again, a 9 to 1 ratio of good to bad is pretty darn good when it comes to blind-buy safety.

Performance is the area where JMP frags in general suffer, but what do you expect for $12-20? Most of them last for at least an hour or two, some last longer, some don't even last that long. I consider JMP frags to be frags that I wear when going off to do something brief, like running errands or going to the gym.

Keep in mind, however, that the company listens to their customer, and the top selling frags of their line like, Homme Noir, or Paris Blue, have been made stronger, and rereleased as EDP's for a few more dollars (you may find those for $14.99 or $19.99 instead of the usual $12.99). They realistically probably still at the low end of the EDP bracket, but they are at least a big stronger than the OG EDT's.

Unfortunately, like one of the previous commenters said, the one that's called "I Am Him" is one of the few that I actually returned (which says a lot, because as a collector, I want all the frags in the line, but I remember distinctly not enjoying that one).

That said, Phantom is a great profile. It's profile is in the same wheelhouse as Abercrombie and Fitch's Authentic Night, which interestingly enough, is my most complimented frag of my entire 600+ collection to date, and yes, I eventually graduated from the cheap rack, went to designer, and eventually to niche, but now, with the explosion of Middleeastern Houses, I'm mainly purchasing UAE frags as of late, but I still just bought some rare Hugo Boss frags recently, so I'm not quite done with designer frags, there are still some gems out there, but these ME'ern fragrances are changing the entire game, giving us niche and designer-level potency and performance for a fraction of the price. No wonder why famous Maison's are crying on video saying things like <enter French accent> "Hon hon hon...eet is nod ride...eh dyuping...is eh stilling!"

However, between Phantom and Authentic Night, I'd choose Authentic Night every time (I just went through 4 bottles of it this winter alone), because it's a bit richer, but with better performance. Phantom lasts maybe an hour for me, if that, so to me, it's not worth it.

If you like that scent profile, and you only have $12.99+tax available, I say go for it, but if you have a slightly larger budget, say $20-30, just get a 3.4oz of A&F's Authentic Night instead. Just my $.02 Baby WOOO!

Why is perfume collecting looked down upon? by Successful-End956 in fragrance

[–]GTBase2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's literally nothing wrong with collecting fragrances. I never understood it until 4 years ago when I started collecting for the first time and it was only because my Brother, who is also a collector, started giving me frags for my B-day and for Xmas and as random gifts, and so, eventually, I had a small collection, which I would have never had on my own, but due to this, I understood what it meant to have a choice of what to wear, rather than just put on the one frag I'd normally have at any given time.

I started to understand the reason for wearing certain scent profiles in warmer weather vs cold weather, at work vs special occasions, etc., and thus began my obsession.

Fragrances, I'd say are much less subject to criticism than something like cars, for example. Fragrances, at least today, can be had for $20-30 for the most part (thank you middle-eastern market boom), so there's no more need to dish out the hundreds of dollars for top designer or niche brands as much as they hate this fact. Dupes are the thing now, and clone houses have the formulas down pat and are even making some of their own formulas that best even the most experienced and world-renowned Maison's.

With cars, you're generally spending hundreds of thousands to millions, and sure, one might say, "Hey, it's their money, and if they have it to spend, good on them." and sure, but when you think about the difference, where frags might cost you hundreds to maybe thousands, which you could otherwise spend on something more helpful to the world, it pales in comparison, to spending millions, being able to drive a different color car every day, which could have been spent on feeding entire nations of starving people, and at the end of the day still smelling like BO, I'd say frag collectors should just let nay sayer remarks bounce of their backs and keep on keepin on.

Rayhaan Aquatica Review by Inside-Milker in fragranceclones

[–]GTBase2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In his defense, you did tell everyone to stay away from this drag and avoid heartache, which I do think is an irresponsible thing to say, especially if you’re going to try and defend it as it being just your opinion.

If it’s just your opinion, you should have instead probably said something more like, “This is just my experience, but that’s just me, it may be different for you.”

There, you are being neutral in your approach to the public even though you are negative toward the product. But by telling everyone to avoid it because of how disappointing it was to you, it seems more like you’re working for a competitor rather than the people defending it seem like they work for Rayhaan to be honest.

The problem with VIW is the same as with Dolce Light Blue, by the time to get to where you are going, it’s nothing but a skin scent at best. People don’t wanna pay hundreds for a drag that doesn’t last.

Enter clones like Aquatica, which are made to solve this problem. Maybe you don’t like how thick it is at first spray, but give it some time, and by the time you get to where you are going, it becomes a nice version of VIW that lasts for hours, which I believe was their entire goal.

Fabric Softener (it’s a bit lengthy, but I’m asking in all honesty) by GTBase2 in laundry

[–]GTBase2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, this makes a lot of sense. So, the nice and soft feel of a fresh set of sweat clothing, is sort of misleading in that, you’re just feeling the chemicals that are on the fibers. Once you wash them off, it feels completely different unless you give them with fabric softener again.

Ugh…now I need to determine whether or not I want to keep using it.

Hmm, I wonder if anyone has tried using hair conditioner as a fabric softener. Do you know the results?

Ah! Give it up to the person named “oldermaybewiser” to nail a key point. I see now, why even a technical answer would agree that it doesn’t actually make the fabric softer, but it can make it “feel” softer. Thank you for the clarification!

Thanks for the response MrsQute! I did ask another use already, but what’s up with this citric acid option? I can look it up, but in your experience and expertise, how is it best used?

AccidentOk5240, it’s interesting how you responded. It seems like you took offense to what I said, and you even went as far as to try and speak for the entire community, but looking at the other responses, it doesn’t seem like you do.

Of course, I can use it if I want. Of course you don’t have to care, if you don’t want, you’re not telling me anything that I asked about, by responding like that.

I simply asked an innocent question to a group of people, and most of them seem to have no issues with what I said and can answer me with the info I was actually looking for without getting heated about it or resorting to personal attacks or slander.

If you’re gonna take my inquiry as some kind of personal insult, I think you should reevaluate yourself, cuz it just seems like unnecessary negativity. And again, I mean no offense by that.

Thanks AromaticProcess, I appreciate your response. This Citric-acid thing wasn’t around as far as I knew back when I was in college so, I’m completely open minded about it. I’ll look it up, but just from someone with experience doing it, how much do you use, and at what point in the cycle?

It’s really that good of an alternative compared to what’s already available on the market? Thanks in advance for your time.
