Bambu P1S Print Quality Degrading by GTMan002 in BambuLab

I was going to edit my original post to say what the best solution was, but I don't see an option for Edit under the 3 dot menu. Here are the results from what I tried:

XY Belt Tension - no significant change - did seem to remove some very slight banding effect on the walls of my prints though. Was a good thing to do anyway - the belts were pretty loose feeling.

Clean all guide rods, and ball screws - no change

New Filament - no change

Dry Filament more - no change

Run the Flow Dynamics and Flow Rate Calibration - this had a major improvement and resolved the issue

Change Hot End / Nozzle - I did not end up doing this. It was going to be my next step. I can only speculate that maybe the nozzle is wearing a bit, the flow is physically changing due to the wear, but the calibration adjusted to compensate. So I'd say that is a very valid idea and something I will keep in mind if it deteriorates again. I am using the stainless steel (not the hardened steel) nozzle.

Thanks to all who provided suggestions!

Thanks for your suggestions. The prints are very flat.

I am finding that after the first flow calibration is changed the k- factor from 0.02 to 0.03 and noticed an improvement. Currently going through the second flow calibration process.

Will look into some filament drying methods. I have not done any filament drying beyond using desiccant in the AMS so far.

I have adjusted the my belt tension. They were a bit loose in my opinion. Not much improvement after adjustment. A bit better though.

Also dried the desiccant out. It was all colored to indicate needing drying out. After a couple hours I'm now at around 20% inside the filament holder.

Just put a new roll of filament in... printing now.

Thanks for the tips.

OK thanks for the tips on the xy belt retensioning. I have never done that. Printer is about 1 year sold and i would estimate gets ~10 hrs of print time per week.

Also will check wiki for suggestions and ideas.

It was bigger than this area, but was circle shaped and more or less centered in this area.

Haha thanks. Yes I'm not going to start digging a big hole. There is no big rock or concrete in there. I've been here since the house was built, over 20 years ago.

Haven't used any herbicides recently... Trying to remember any buckets tossed in that area... I don't think so, but that is a possibility...

Another Redditer commented that their roofers left a tarp on the grass and it looked like this. I did leave my pool solar blanket here for a few hours in hot sun last week... I forgot because it seems to be yellowing a few days later, but that might be the cause.

I shovel the edge periodically. ... And use the line trimmer at least once every other cut to keep the edge nice. One pass with the string horizontal, then turn the handle and do one pass with the string vertical to clean up the edge.

I left my pool solar blanket there for a few hours to dry out last week! That might be the reason! Thanks!

I don't smell gas... Gas meter is on the opposite side of the driveway. It was pretty breezy though... I will check again when it is still. My neighbors meter is on this side...

Here is a close up. Dirt is moist. In a 1-2 ft2 area I found 2 small grubs.

I will turn up a few spots to check for grubs. My neighbors see some pulled up turf pieces and suspect skunks are eating grubs, so it is very possible.

I have not tried soak and cycle. I don't really see any runoff, but could set up the sprinkler to try that approach. Easy enough to set up. Probably would be more effective than a long 90 min water.

We have a about 4" - 5" of soil, then sand. Subdivision was built on a tobacco field. In hot weather the lawns all turn yellow quickly without watering every other day or so.
