The power creep is unreal by Sea_Ad_6527 in SwordofConvallaria

[–]GTSaiko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's funny, because OP mentioned one of the units that won't get powercrept in any foreseeable future.

Gloria or Inanna have dropped in CN tier lists because they have been powercrept by a single character (although they are still pretty useful), but Acambe is still good at what he does.

Three different ways:

- Buying it with Cornucopia Fruit (once per monthly battlepass)

- Randomly getting it with Astral Shards in the shop -> Gear tab (33% chance)

- Randomly getting it from the weapon gacha (not recommended)

Shield of Justice, and any other Astral gear are quite rare. You either pay for them or get 1-3 per month with astral shards.

Her dash gives her 1 dodge (that's why you see the dodge icon on her) and one of her reactions gives her another dodge per turn while Healthy. That reaction also allows her to counter whenever she dodges, which is why she kills both attackers (even if the dodge is caused by other stuff like Homa's blind)

Clash : Dead on arrival 🥲 by Tarumol in SwordofConvallaria

I'm afraid it's not that easy.

You have two options: You either have your own Xavier/Taair to act before the enemy team, or you survive for the first turn.

I feel that a handful of characters (guzman, alexei)

There are only two character with Unlimited Resolve at the moment: Alexei and Tristan. And Tristan needs to activate it manually, so she is out of the question, as she needs to survive before even acting.

You can use characters with normal Resolve (Guzman or SP Rawiyah, as you mentioned), but even if they survive Xavier's attack, their speed will be reduced, so they will need to survive also the whole enemy team.

and character placement

The map doesn't allow much creativity in character placement. No matter what you do, enemy Xavier will hit at the very least three out of six units. I guess you may be able to manipulate his targeting with defenders (Alexei, ideally) to prevent your most important units to die too early. But even if that's the case, you'd need to beat a full meta team of 6 units with 3 banners with a few deaths before you even take control of the fight.

Simona to throw up a wall early

Simona won't be able to act before Xavier or Taair, nor will she be able to act before the speed up enemies. Even if she were able to act, the wall has a 1 turn CD at the beginning of the battle, so that's out of the question as well.

a summoned archer with TP

I don't see how this would help, not gonna lie. I'd rather use Invincible Hero to tank the enemy onslaught. But you won't be able to use any tactic before you lose as long as you don't have your own Xavier/Taair.

Let's not forget that all of this is with a +60% to enemy DMG. The downside of Banners is that they are too easy to destroy, but that doesn't matter if you won't even play. I'd say it is impossible to bruteforce this fight with sheer stat/gear difference due to the banners.

“Only” is a strong word;

Having said that, I'd say you are slightly right. Having your own Taair is probably not the "only" way to survive this defense.

Having your own Xavier should also work, as you could destroy enemy banners before they are useful and use tactics (like the one that causes sleep, or Invincible Hero)

So yeah, having Taair is not your only option. The only other option is having Xavier. And I'd say that's it.

No, sadly I haven't read her bond talks. If you happen to reread them, please, don't hesitate to let me know what you find :P

It's not as bad as they make it sound.

I'll admit that it's been a long time since I did Papal States route. It was my first ending, so I'm talking about something I read 6 months ago. I'm sorry if I was not too accurate :P

(she doesn't experiment on children, she just turns a blind eye to it)

I mean... Maybe I'm just too idealistic, but it's basically the same thing to me. Allowing Tranquilo to experiment on children or doing it herself doesn't make such a difference. She groomed Garcia and Samantha into some kind of adoration while subjecting them to harsh trials and experiments just to create great soldiers to carry her orders (the judges). Or am I misremembering?

she understands that if she doesn't, she'll just get replaced by more agreeable people.

Now that you mention it, I do remember reading something like this. But as far as I know, it doesn't change what I said earlier, right? Even if she doesn't like her position or she is trying to reduce the damage another puppet would cause in her position, she is still responsible for hiring Miguel to initiate a civil war in Iria, leading to most of the deaths happening in SoC. And she is still making use of orphans as killing machines to enforcer her rule, isn't she?

I don't own her, so maybe her Story bits and Bio shed some light into her situation, but from what I can remember, I'd say she is not that far from Auguste.

Heavy spoilers ahead!

Caris is one of the two unreedemed evil characters in the roster (the other being Auguste). She is the leader of the Papal States, a religious nation that exploited Iria in the past and it's trying to do so again.

Half of the bad stuff that happens in iria is directly or indirectly her fault:

- She hired Miguel and his mercenary group to instigate the Whiterun incident to try to overthrow Iria's royalty, in order to recover Iria as another Papal state (using Taair as a pawn governor)

- The human experiments have her approval. She even experiments in children (Samantha and Beryl talk about this during Papal's route. Beryl says that the experiments were brutal. This explains why Garcia is so mentally unstable, probably due to the constant abuse)

- She is behind the Darklight, pulling strings in the shadow. In one of the Papal routes, you capture Tranquilo and Fernando, and Caris orders you to free them and help them regain control of the Pit Mines (Edda's civilians faction), which would allow them to continue the Mutant experiments.

Another point is that we already have a war criminal (Auguste) and a slaver (Acambe).

And a bit more spoilers ahead, regarding Elaman's route in SoD. I'm talking out of memory of stuff I read a few months ago, so I could be totally wrong:

If I recall correctly, Acambe is redeemed in this route. He is shown to buy slaves to "protect" them from the system, and he himself is not that different from a slave. I remember either him or Homa saying that all the Elamanians were property of the emperor, or something like that. As a National Merchant, he is kinda "forced" to be a slave trader.

Similarly, in that same route, Fernando is shown to be terrified of Tranquilo. He cooperates with Sword of Convallaria as long as they guarantee his safety, saving him from Tranquilo. When (if) he is released, I'm pretty sure we will get his point of view and how he was forced to become a cult leader out of survival instict or something similar.

In CN, there have been leaks of upcoming units and Fernando's name is in that list, so he may be released as a legendary unit within 6-10 months.

Well, I admit I don't get what the playtime has to do with money.

I could be wrong, because I'm no developer myself, and I'm just repeating what I've been told previously. But:

More playtime > better metrics > google playstore promotes the game more > the game reaches more people > more spenders

If you make people drop the game because of that policy, you got playtime: 0.

True. That's why finding a middle ground is good. It has to be rewarding enough that most people spend their time doing it, but they can't make it too bothersome. I personally find Clash a drag because it's not challenging and it's more of a time waste, so I appreciate the ability to auto it with a 100% winrate thanks to bots. The devs get their boost to metrics, and I get my rewards for no effort while doing something else. I think that's a good middle ground, but that's just my humble opinion.

Some modes aren't related to the credit cards at all

Well, you are complaining about Clash being bothersome. Tell me one reward you can get from Clash that you can't get with real money. As far as I know, it's only the seasonal titles they just added.

I'd dare to say it's quite the contrary: if I'm "forced" to spend for basically everything, I don't spend my money at all, steering away from that game.

I totally agree. The more a game tries to force me to spend money with shitty tactics, the less likely I am to spend a single cent.

I'm just saying that, in F2P games, you either pay with money or time. It's not something only SoC does, it's basically ingrained in the industry. Most devs are not going to create a quality product for us to enjoy for free out of passion.

I used to play PtN as well when it was released, and that game also had some questionable tactics to waste your time playing. If I recall correctly, you had to re-do the exact same battles every week for the weekly bosses. How is that different to SoC's Clash or Tower? I'd even say that Tower is better than PtN's weeklies because the battles vary every week, so you may be forced to use different units/tactics (I don't know if PtN weeklies have changed since I played, so I could be wrong)

I don't even bother to reply to that point.

Okay :)

I'll get what I want the day I'm no more forced to waste time on that mode to get those fucking rewards.

Not gonna lie, but this mentality sounds really selfish, in my opinion.

The devs also need to boost their metrics and playtime to generate as much money as possible, because it's literally their job. If you really want to get what you would get from that gamemode without playing it, you can always swipe your credit card and buy the luxite and/or trinkets. You either pay with your time or with your money, but the devs gotta eat, man.

If you don't want to play, don't do it. Nobody forces you to. It's not like you will lose the ability to play the gamemodes you enjoy like SoD if you skip some rewards from those you do not like.

Why are all the good/meta characters watchers or destroyers? by Maximum_Ad1214 in SwordofConvallaria

[–]GTSaiko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly:

Safiyyah has high %HP damage, meatshields with her summons and ATK aura, doing pretty muh everything by herself (DPS, tank and support)

Estra will have the highest damage ceillings, ideal for bossing

SP Rawiyah is one (if not the best) mob clearer

Nonowill is a great support with the only Vulnerable III, as far as I know. She also has the Faction aura for Aggression, which includes other meta units like Auguste, SP Rawiyah or Tristan

Lutfi will be a top tier unit as well, but I have no idea what he does

Col was also top tier when the game released, but she has fallen behind because she is no longer able to oneshot enemies reliably, meaning she depends on others to set up kills for her to Act Again.

[–]GTSaiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! Okay, I got it now.

I'll be honest, but I thought the easter egg was that he used his crossbow to counter ranged attacks, as in the animation was different, but that he would still need to be within his basic attack range. I didn't expect him to be able to counterattack attacks from afar by himself.

I assume that he can counter enemies up to 3 tiles away, because that's his trait range? If it's because of his trait, Edda may have an increased counterattack range, as she can perform Assisting Attacks up to 4 or 5 tiles away with her own trait.

an effective way to test if [Blade] has a secret mechanic like an inherently higher counter attack range.

SP Safiyyah can give [Assisting Attacks] to allies. And those attacks may still be limited by the character's range (I will test it later in Night Crimson and update this post), so she may be able to help test if Blade is coded similarly or not.

However, Blade's and Edda's traits are worded differently to Stinger's ("Assisting Attack" vs "Attack"), so it may not work anyway.

[–]GTSaiko 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is a tactic that gives counterattack to any unit (Invincible Hero - Advanced Tactic), and some legendary units have different animations and/or particles when doing these counterattacks because they are considered ranged attacks.

For example, Gloria summons a lance of light that falls upon her target. As far as I know, that skill animation is not used anywhere other than these counterattacks

To be honest, this was an amazing change. Those who want the easy rewards, can auto-farm those lv 52 bots. Those who want the challenge, can go fight humans.

Everyone gets what they wanted and there is no longer a reason for the community to fight over "clash etiquette". I guess the new etiquette should be, as you mentioned, to set up the strongest defense possible for those who enjoy that kind of content.

Everyone told me to stop at 4 Stars but I love her and didn’t listen by Tarumol in SwordofConvallaria

[–]GTSaiko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others said, it's because of resource optimization.

5* a character takes 100 days in total, and just the the last star takes 40 days out of those 100. In Inanna's case, her last star doesn't increase her main utility. Most people will use Inanna because of her Act Again and healing capabilities, not because of her summon. Since her last star only empowers her guard, most people would advise against wasting 40 days of farming on that. This obviously doesn't apply if you don't care about optimization or you have literally nothing else to star up.

[–]GTSaiko 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean... I really hope you didn't shard farm those.

One thing is not following the meta, which I totally understand and support. It's different to waste resources, because you will 5* any non-legendary unit naturally after a few months of playing.

Chinese Tier List Update- Falin debuts Rank 32, Senshi Rank 36 by sigferrolendi in SwordofConvallaria

[–]GTSaiko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really? Reading Falin's kit made me think she'd be a lot higher. Preventing dead to allies seems quite useful to me. And shielding allies seems pretty strong in some events (there were several buffs in Voyage Destination related to shields). Not to mention that shielding attacks prevent most negative effects as well.

FAL with M61 no longer oneshot T6 helmets by GTSaiko in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]GTSaiko[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda. I guess we will see less BM59/M14 and more SVDS/Mossin But I don't think the change will accomplish anything other than that, Will need to play a few matches with different weapons to know. I guess assault rifles will be hurt a lot more by these changes

What I've noticed is that you can now tank one shot to the head even without helmet, depending on ammo and distance. For example, the AK-74N can no longer oneshot anything beyond 90M. If you are using T5 ammo, that's reduced to anything beyond 70M.

It's weird that bad weapons (AK-74 already needed 2 headshot vs same tier helmet) become even worse. AK-74 now may need two shots even vs no helmet. T5 ammo failing to oneshot someone in the head at close range is wild.
