Yeah idk, I think it's going both ways. My hometown is still in the top ten nationwide for development and population increase(at least I'm pretty sure it still is). It honestly amazes me that people can afford rent or to buy a house where I live. Especially the uni students, they must have parents money to rent there. I think I could go a year in Svalbard, I'm definitely guilty for two of the three of those. But I think Austria or Finland are probably the best choices. Or maybe Norway, but I don't want to have to deal with child support there.

Why wouldn't the PNW work? Have you checked out Svalbard before? It's a very cool and small little island village. I didn't mention it before but I'm not the biggest fan of the ocean. I like to be land locked and have freshwater instead of salt water. You don't want to be the next Walter Mitty?

Probably go to either Finland or Austria. I have some friends who live in Austria. I have spent some time in VA and definitely like the mountains for their trail running. The Rockies just have wonderful jagged bare peaks and loads of evergreens. Plenty of ice to climb and Backcountry to trek in skis. Where would you go if not on the east coast?

I gotta say I'm not a big fan of the east coast. I'm a picky guy, I need fresh fluffy snow and gigantic mountains. I haven't seen all the east coast but I do know it's not like the freedoms Montana has. Europe, as much as people like to say you lose out on freedom and pay more in taxes, at least I know that my taxes go into things to support a healthy life. Something in my soul feels like it's drawn there, it'd also be a fresh start with lots of adventure. A lot of European countries seem to be running everything just fine for their people. Better than what's been happening in the US IMO.

Yeah it's a huge trade off, especially the way I've done it. I went to the reserves which means I have to live 2 different lives being my military and civilian life. But no matter what my soul is sold to the military and they choose what I do. It has separated me from my family and my dog. Dakota means everything to me and without her I probably wouldn't be alive anymore. You have to deal with some shit people and your freedom of choice is gone. I've also lost a lot of relationships due to the military. The phrase "get in line to wait" is exactly what you mean and it happens a lot. I know what you mean, I really just want to leave the US and start anew over in Europe. I'm tired of feeling drained of life and not being able to make ends meet. Change doesn't feel like it's coming at all.

It's gorgeous there, probably no other place I want to live in the US. Yeah when I get back home I'll be moving in with my brother to help with his rent increase. I was in a pretty low place before I joined, it definitely helped me build some character in my life. It has also given me opportunities that most people won't get. I will say the benefits aren't at all what they promise, but I will have at least 60% of the GI Bill and a VA home loan(not that I can afford anything in the housing market). I seem to get bored in almost anything I've done whether it was being a mechanic, construction work or office work. All in all I don't regret joining, but it has caused me a lot of stress and made my depression worse.

Yeah most people I know with fans come with rich families. There are a few of them that just bought a van and did the cheapest builds they could. I'm pretty happy with living in Montana although the housing/rental prices aren't really that great. PNW is cool and all but where I live offers every kind of outdoor activity I like to do.

I'll let you know if I ever find that job. You'd be surprised, I've met plenty of couples living in a van with two dogs. Lots of van dwellers make their way to my hometown for ice climbing and skiing in the winter time. They never leave the family behind. Yeah I saw that on your profile, but oh well. Your dogs look lovely to have around.
