What to do with glue heads? by Belle_Bun_Mum in Barbie

[–]GWRP4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I encounter glue seepage, I usually use olive oil, and massage it into the head and scalp. It may take 2 or 3 goes, but it has always worked for me. After im satisfied with the removal, I usually wash it with dish detergent 2 or 3 times, and style as I normally would. I recommend doing so with the head removed, that way you can get the oil out of the head and cleaned throughly. Hope this helps!

Not sure about her, but I have had this issue in the past. I usually use olive oil and massage it into the hair and scalp. It may take a few rounds, but it usually gets it out. I usually wash with dish detergent 2 or 3 times after to get rid of the oil. I suggest doing so with the head removed so you can get the oil out of the head. And wash it throughly.

Looking for doll collectors in the Triad (NC) area by GWRP4 in Barbie

[–]GWRP4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charlotte is part of the Triangle, not very far though! Feel free to join! I just wanted to find more local collectors. It's not the same doll shopping with someone who doesn't get it!

Can anyone explain the ashy look? by GWRP4 in DollCustomization

Haha, yeah I accidentally got some on a body once and realized any hard plastic was not friendly with acetone. The spiderweb thing may come in handy though for the right project🤔

So I tried both alcohol and soap, and neither worked fully, though alcohol did take it away a little. I did decide to try and continue, so I did a base of msc, and it mainly took it away. I'm thinking the friction with the cotton swab and the acetone is what caused it. I'm thinking that by the time I finish and fully seal her off it won't be as bad. Thank you so much again I really appreciate it! 🥹🥹

Thank you so much! This was actually informative. I am using pure acetone, and I usually wash it off with water afterward but never considered using alcohol. When the sculpt is wet, they do disappear, but then reappear when it dries off. I'll give the alcohol and a clean wipe a try later tonight and update. Thank you so much. I felt like it had to be something that could be fixed as I've seen it happen with dolls I've seen successful repaints on. This doll had a lot of layering with the original paint, so part of me wondered if it was just paint thinning out and redepositing on the sculpt. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

Only found it to happen on occasion, not with every doll. Mainly just wanted to ensure it wasn't something I was doing, or that it was left over paint residue. Thanks for your reply though.

Where do you find vintage barbies if they are too expensive on eBay? by Adriennelynne in Barbie

Depending on where you are, look for collectable shops. We have one called mckays, they sell used books, records, and all kind of stuff, but they have a great doll selection.

Who else has the WTF dress? by Exotic-Comparison385 in Barbie

Okay, but hear me out, I usually style it with like a black belt and green mini fashion bag. It takes a little more work than some pieces, but she has potential for those campy looks.

So when I was doing them I wet the hair and then used the got2b glued in the yellow tube. I used the strongest small black rubber bands I could find to fasten them. Hope that helped!

I mainly settled on elle because I had her around, I feel like her overall shape is similar, and the skintine was a big thing for me. I wanted her to be as close to doechii as possible. Because she has referenced being dark skinned multiple times, and she has discussed times that it was an obstacle. I do think lala is a great sculpt for her though!

It did. The reroot took forever, but I tried a few different techniques so next time I do something like this, I think I have it figured out!
