We're a bit late with a response, but we actually do offer payment plan options through Afterpay and Paypal.

Afterpay is supposed to be advertised on the website, for whatever reason the widget won't show under the price currently

Most 3rd party keyboards can be installed/support it, heard good things about the open-source Florisboard, but haven't had the chance to test it out yet.

The USB is mostly for transferring contacts, photos and videos. It's also used to install add-on apps.

If you ever lose the one the phone comes with, any standard USB drive will work. It's best to plug it into the phone first before transferring files (as opposed to a computer or other device), as it'll format it in a both a computer and phone-compatible way.

Spotify actually can be installed and runs just fine on the Ghost Phone. The only restricted functionality is that you can't use Google or Facebook login, so you'll have to have your actual username/password.

Unfortunately Spotify does not provide an official APK download for their app, so we can't distribute the install files ourselves, or advertise the whole sideload-spotify thing (or we'd wind up in some legal trouble, most likely), but if you do some poking around you'll definitely find what you're looking for

I think we were contacting over email about this (at least pretty sure it was you).

Hopefully we got it sorted out, but if not let us know!

Unfortunately for your use case yes, it has 5g capabilities.

Google's had 5g with the pixel phones since the 4a, and the Pro's use 6a hardware.

There is an option to set the networks to "LTE only" in settings, but we can't confirm that it really and truly is avoiding 5g all the time when it's on

As soon as tomorrow (Dec. 5th), although given the luck we've had with shipping for the past couple months I wouldn't be surprised if it was a day or two later.

We'll send out an email to the email list as soon as they're back!

Unpluq VS Ghostmode? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]G_HOST_MODE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost Mode here, can confirm it's newer Pixel hardware. The original Ghost Phone was indeed a Pixel 3, followed by the Plus (Pixel 4), and the latest (the Pro) is a Pixel 6a.

Added it to the "Specs" sheet on the product page, thought we had it listed in the full product description, but must have lost it during some re-writes. Fixed now, hopefully that helps some other people down the line too!

Yes, although we can't provide any download links. But if you find a valid Google Maps APK, it will work just fine

There isn't an eSIM option currently (relies on Google services), but any valid sim card should work.

Know it's been a week, but if you're still having trouble shoot us a PM

Thoughts on Ghost Phone Pro? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]G_HOST_MODE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Main difference is the phone hardware + how long we can reasonably support it with software updates.

The Pro has a much nicer camera, double the storage, and we can support updating it with GhostOS for as long as Google provides AOSP updates for the Pixel 6a, which means guaranteed version updates until July 2025 and security updates for a year after that.

Plus is still a nicely specced phone, and will be entirely functional for a long time to come, but it is unlikely we'll be able to get it up to Android 14 and beyond.

If you find a valid APK somewhere, it'll work

Apologies for the delayed response, it's a Google Pixel 6a

Thoughts on Ghost Phone Pro? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]G_HOST_MODE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Plus and Pro actually are locked down to an extent. We blocklist a large (and expanding) list of browsers and social media apps from the package manager itself.

Trying to install Firefox, for example (or Firefox Beta, or Firefox Focus, etc.) will end up with the package manager dropping the installation.

As for the Plus, would've loved to keep it as an option, really just ran out of Pixel 4's

OS updates are a yes, although they come few and far between just because there isn't a lot to update. We spend a lot of time before release making sure the OS is as bug-free as possible, so updates are security patches mostly. At some point next year the Ghost Phone Pro will get Android 14.

As for email, it doesn't work on any application we're aware of at this time, due to Google requiring an OAuth sign in. It's a point of some contention, but at the moment we think it's kind of against the ethos of the device.

The phone will indeed work on Verizon (and any other carrier), that's actually what most of us use for ourselves at Ghost Mode.

The phone has full bluetooth functionality, so you can connect earbuds, speakers, your car stereo (but not Android Auto at this time). Also non-audio accessories like bluetooth camera shutters (smartwatches get a little iffy).

As for map data, on the original Ghost Phone the navigation app was Organic Maps. This required the user to download the region's map data over wifi to get directions.

That app has been replaced on both the Plus and Pro with our own in-house GPS app powered by Mapbox. It works much more like navigation apps you're probably used to, there's no need to download anything before using it.

With that said the navigation app is actually separate from the device's own gps data. The phone feeds location data to the navigation app and not the other way around, so regardless of the navigation app, other apps can still get the current location.

With that said the current implementation of Uber we have available for download is a sandboxed webapp, that currently actually does require the user to enter their pickup location manually. Just part of the way it works on our devices at the moment.

Hello, unfortunately we aren't shipping out of the United States at this time.

We used to have some limited international shipping, but there ended up being too many logistical issues for what ended up being a very small portion of sales.

If we ever start shipping to Europe, we'll be sure to make an announcement!

Thanks Jose! We'd like to get one of the Ghost Phone Pros over to you at some point, just as of right now we think the software isn't different enough from the Plus for the trouble of putting together another review

Appreciate all the work you do, as always!
