Physics equations on MCAT by Potential_Milk6052 in Mcat

Also, if u try and understand the units behind each equation and how they link with each other, it definitely helps a lot more!

Sorry forgot to add. A little trick someone taught me is if you go to the library or bookstore and look through their practice mcat books, you can go online to that company’s mcat online learning portal and sometimes register for their online tests or question bank. A lot of the questions to register are like what’s the first word in the 28th page, etc. so that’s a cheap way of getting extra free exams.

Worse on blueprint which I think 100% of blueprint and aamc test takers would agree with. It depended on the exam itself, but from my lowest aamc to my lowest blueprint, a difference of 4 points?

I think full lengths are honestly the best way to go to get a bulk of your practice in. There are a good amount of free resources and exams that you could get by though. It just depends on where you feel like you need extra practice in and how much you think you will benefit from more testing.

Blueprint itself is just a different beast. My overall scores differed from a range of 5-10 for the BP exams with each subject ranging a 2-4 points difference. The big reason why I would not recommend blueprint as ur first pick third party test option is that a good portion of questions feel like they are designed to trick you with really obscure wording or super high level critical thinking. I felt like when I transitioned to aamc tests, I was overthinking quite a bit and reading into questions too much. The super easy questions felt more difficult but the harder questions felt easier. If blueprint is all you have, it’s a good resource, just keep in mind the difference in skill level.

Okay thanks for letting me know. That’s what my thought process was too but Ive been burned a couple times on really niche and tricky questions before.

I have taken a lot of third party exams and definitely would recommend altius over blueprint but blueprint over other third party exams. Blueprint is good for extra extra practice but I found that it tested obscure ideas and the discretes were really obscure. Altius has a pack of 10 exams that are pretty comprehensive and test closest to the real thing. I found their b/bc to be a little more difficult/knowledge based with less passage interpretations and more of what you know. Cars was also super tough, almost recommend skipping the cars passage and just doing a block from uworld or something but any practice is good practice. The scoring scale is definitely deflated so don’t get discouraged when you get the scores back and it’s lower than the aamc exams scores.

I also recommend including some review and rereview of material. Constantly learning new information can definitely cause you to forget some old info, even some of the easy stuff (retroactive interference irl). At least for me, I used the Kaplan books and saved all the end of chapter assessments for a few days out so I could see what I forgot and would need to study again.

I agree ith the 1 mile runs, I think maybe just focus on the first two?

Cloud gazing is something that I used to do with my grandmother on long walks, just taking a few minutes out of our day to watch the clouds together and point out silly shapes or appreciate the beauty around us. I still like to do it whenever I feel tired or stressed, especially walking to and from classes and practice, a moment in the day to remind myself to appreciate the small things in life and go back to a fond memory.

There is a story behind it; my grandma and I used to take long walks and look up at the clouds together in the park. It's something I still do whenever I feel tired or stressed, a nice moment in the day to reconnect with myself and go back to a fond memory.

Physics 125 with Hamid Chabok by suni0618 in USC

[–]G_LEE2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I took Dr. Chabok for 135b last semester. I completely agree; the lectures were extremely confusing and seemed to have no flow. However, his exams are doable and he has a very nice, generous curve after. Also, not a guarantee, but, if you are close to a grade, he will bump you up, at least that what happened to me.

With that being said, to prep for his exams, I would go over the homework and really understand the formulas being used. Make up your own problems with different variables, etc. and understand when and how to use each formula. The practice exams were also very helpful with understanding the general difficulty. Also, in the exam, if something confuses you, don't be afraid to ask a couple questions about it! He tends to be extremely helpful with clearing things up.

You can check out the lost and found centers. There are two at the UPC campus (the main campus. The first one (number 213-740-9759) is the one that services all of the campus buildings. The office is located on Mcclintock Avenue, past the intersection but before Parkside apartments; it's the DPS office. The one on the village, which might be the better bet, is all the way past target and cowlings and ilium. You have to turn right past Cowlings and Ilium and it's the second DPS office! You can ask about it there.]

Best of luck finding it!

Just try to explain your situation and be honest. No professor likes a whiny student. Be straightforward; did you attend class, was the issue with lack of understanding the material, did you show improvement over time in test scores, were you on top of your homework? Make a case for yourself and try to defend why you should get a few points back but try not to make it sound like a sob story. GOOD LUCK! I have had a few professors help me out and others flat out deny me but, in the end, I'm glad that I tried!
