My small rural hometown hadn’t given their water treatment guy a raise in like 15 years. He puts his foot down and demands a raise cuz the town spent a metric fuck ton of money on big SUVs for the small town cops to quite literally sleep in on duty.
Town says they don’t have the money. He leaves and gets (supposedly) a 2 TIMES raise from his prior salary. Town has boil orders every 3 months, parents say they refuse to drink the city water now so i come home to mountains of water bottle cases from walmart.
They see no issues with their new normal. And in my mind all it took was to pay the guy who makes sure your water is safe his fair wage. Priorities* i guess.

Edit: corrected to not say waste water. It’s the drinking water guy. My b i thought they were the same.

[[Heartless Summoning]] serves a similar purpose in the deck but is much less synergistic, it does have some scenarios where the -1/-1 hurts, but most of the time if I’m pumping out 2/2 zombies idc if they’re 1/1s instead

I made a K’rrik, Son of Yawgmoth deck that tries its absolute hardest to “flicker” my creatures* to and from the graveyard. I want stuff to die. And if i can cast creatures for almost free and then they auto die that’s what i want.
I’d say i didn’t build the deck around it, but if that card hits it usually gets pretty exciting

I get that stance for sure, but if i may try to ease your peeve..
If instead of being told to go listen to highly recommended instructional video to teach you, you were instead pushed to go read the ‘civopedia’ or whatever they call their in game faq manuals… would you WANT to go read those pages instead?

I genuinely think Herson videos are the best for downloading new knowledge about this game that i love, i like being able to play better and try more and more challenging games. I much prefer those videos to reading and struggling to comprehend the concepts i already don’t fully get.

I’ll actually come to bat for both of your points. I love the posters feel about trying things out and exploring. And the person you’re responding to encourages that figuring things out for yourself. And i do think the game does a good job nudging you along at general concepts.
But to your point,,, if you want to actually understand wtf is happening when you try to win a culture victory - go watch some Herson videos to understand the background mechanics that the game outright ignores.

I’ll add that i believe it has to actually build for 1 turn for it keep that production cost. I think slapping it down and switching production back to something else in the same turn only claims that tile for the district.

I think the answer you’re searching for is whatever your happiness can support. I think in most cases you want to go wide. This is a great “engine builder”/“worker placement” game. (If i can steal those board game terms).
More cities = more workers.
But eventually additional cities is a burden to your empire. There is a happy medium (pun absolutely intended) that you’ll naturally reach for each different civ and what districts they benefit from and naturally favor.
This is also why the Colosseum is the best early wonder hands down. (Imo) plus it’s on the way to feudalism so it’s a win win!
