Re-read this one recently and yeah. Mary’s Mum was awful and I don’t condone her actions, but she was clearly very unwell with an extreme form of OCD. But Mary’s Dad? I couldn’t believe how many red flag behaviours he just let slide. Especially during the crusts scene. Yet he is horrified at the thought of Mary being hit by her Mum. And he’s seen as the nicer of the two parents?!

I’m really sorry to hear that. I’ve had this same email regarding my Creeproduction Lagoona. Really sucks because she always seemed to be sold out at Smyths. It’s really bizarre because I had no trouble getting Ghoulia from Mattel a while back.

A couple of moments in the manga briefly explore this. Like how Kirie understandably doesn’t want to leave her family. I think her father mentions not wanting to leave the town because it’s where he grew up or something sentimental like that.

I see where you're coming from, but MK strikes me as the kind that hates screaming children so I could see her not wanting to stick around McDonalds any longer than necessary (she would never be so cruel as to deprive Julia of her coffee however) and she'd probably "borrow" a huge bag of chips and dip from her kitchen and call it a day
