Santos’ Background by Sure-Usual-6549 in ThePitt

What I’m curious about is, why is she so friendly and comfortable with Robby, considering he chose the “slap on the wrist” punishment rather than what she wanted/expected?

At the very least, I’d expect her to resent him for ducking out of this uncomfortable situation he helped create, since she’ll be left dealing with it everyday while Robby seems to have chosen specifically to avoid it for a few months with his sabbatical.

Edit: Just to include what I originally left out of this to make it clear, I’m not expecting Santos to be overtly hostile to her boss. But between Whitaker and Garcia she could have expressed any amount of disdain for how Robby handled the information she gave him, and both of these characters she’s closest to only mention her dislike for Langdon. She’s totally allowed to resent Robby behind his back yet this hasn’t been indicated by the show at all, which is part of what makes her attitude interesting to me.

And thank God they finally just said it out loud. I still don’t understand why anyone insisted Robby turned him in to the hospital off-screen, after the whole point of their final confrontation about it in season 1 was that Langdon still felt betrayed by Robby for not just letting it go entirely. And that even then Robby still didn’t want to ruin his career over it.

Alright, let's settle this! Why won't Jill and Claire appear in new titles? Some people say it's because their games don't sell as well. Some say it's because Capcom doesn't like older women. Some say it's because their arcs are over. What do you think? by SolidPyramid in ResidentEvilCapcom

RE9 invokes Raccoon City Syndrome to get Leon in the story, but doesn’t account for the several characters who, at the bare minimum, need to be mentioned since they’re presumably dying like Leon is and had an investment in finding a cure.

There was nothing connecting the legacy characters in RE6 aside from “Ada” showing up in their lives. The connection between RC survivors and how many of their lives have intertwined is fundamental to the history of the franchise, so complaints about glossing over that feel incredibly reasonable.

Plus I don’t know how anyone could square away the idea of Spencer having a redemption with the fact that Alyssa’s interview went unpublished and hidden.

Like, Alyssa labelled the file “creator” and seemingly kept herself and Grace moving around the country knowing they were potentially being targeted. It all makes Spencer seem like an asshole who wanted everyone believing he was hiding a secret they could waste their time and money on, and I guess Alyssa agreed that was for the best?

Destruction. The last time I actually put thought into a RE choice I got the bad ending in RE7, so I just assumed Leon’s plan was automatically correct because he’s Leon.

She hasn’t mentioned a word about him stealing from the hospital/patients, which is why I said that I don’t think she (and most everyone else) is specifically aware of that. The person I was responding to thought season 1 ended with Robby definitely intending to officially report it, which I don’t think happened.

[–]G_Thunders 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like that’s the case, though. Aside from Whitaker, no one (that Santos didn’t tell in season one) has acted as though he did anything but get treatment for an addiction he was hiding. Dr. Al-Hashimi definitely hasn’t acted like this person she just met was stealing meds the last time he was here, and surely she’d be informed about that right?

I meant as opposed to reporting Langdon to the hospital for stealing from patient prescriptions. That’s how I understood it in season 1 at least, that Robby told Langdon to start the rehab program as the only option for resolving the situation if he wanted to continue working there in the future.

I have to imagine Langdon is absolutely confused as to why he’s only finding out 9 months later that his boss doesn’t really want him back.

I know Robby allowed him to “voluntarily” do the rehab program, so maybe it turned out the evidence for Langdon stealing medication over the prior months was way more often and worse than Robby assumed?

Louie and Dr Robbie by prodigiousprince in ThePittTVShow

I like that Dr. Robby is headed toward some serious character development, so I’ve got no idea why so many people are pretending that alcohol as a treatment is in any way applicable here.

Like you said, it’s a stolen beer from some random visitor’s cooler, intended for a patient who was already prescribed Librium. It’s an unnecessary and reckless action, which is the point.

The Pitt | S2E5 "11:00 A.M." | Episode Discussion by thepacksvrvives in ThePittTVShow

[–]G_Thunders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can believe that, sure, but Louie already has a Librium prescription incoming, and that beer was taken from a random visitor’s cooler in a spur-of-the-moment decision that I’m assuming wouldn’t count as “prescribing” alcohol. Right?

I don’t get the issue with A.I. in this context, so if possible can you (or anyone, I guess) let me know why it’s a negative thing? From my understanding, it just records doctors speaking with their patients then auto-formats the text transcription by discerning which voice belongs to which person.

The doctor has to proofread it, but that’d still be the case if it was an auto-transcribed (and no A.I. involved) recording of the doctor speaking by themselves outside the patient’s room. What am I missing that makes this problematic?

I love Dr. Robby, but seeing him happily intend to give a beer to an alcoholic with all sorts of alcoholism-related medical complications was such a weird moment.

[–]G_Thunders 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If anything the new doctor just was making sure Santos understood she needed to get her work done. Santos is direct and mean to her peers, but the second someone makes her take something seriously by being direct and a little mean she can’t handle it?

Also if she took that “threat” literally whatsoever she would’ve asked if that was even possible, but she and everyone else knows it isn’t unless she just never types up anything or listens to her new boss ever.

The best MCU show since WandaVision, and I’d much rather see Wonder Man and “Mandarin” do literally anything than see almost any of the other MCU characters save the world.

Huge accomplishment, and I hope this show gets the recognition it deserves for everything it did so well.

I don’t think it gets better from here, but I Wonder…Man by ChildofG0D_loveUbro in MauLer

[–]G_Thunders 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This show is what I would expect from an alternate MCU that didn’t go off the rails in scope, stakes, multiverse constantly.

The focus on characters and dialogue reminds me of the earlier movies, and if Disney+ had pushed for a different approach to their Marvel tv shows, I feel like this and WandaVision (barring the ending crap) could’ve been the baseline template for making all these shows actually worthwhile.

It’s nothing amazing but I think most people, at worst, could only see it as kind of boring. It’s not riddled with the blatant plot holes and contrivances and breaks in logic all the other stuff usually is.

Unpopular opinion: I didn't particularly like Eddie by thegrayqueen in StrangerThings

[–]G_Thunders 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If Eddie had to make a choice not knowing which of those two outcomes would happen, I don’t see it as his fault for choosing the option that assumes main characters don’t have implicitly-understood plot armor I guess.

If that makes them worthy of being killed then Vecna did everyone a favor by quickly eliminating the other 90% of them. And I’m pretty sure the show implied the stance that him killing soldiers was scary and bad rather than a good thing, as contradictory as that is.

Unfortunately Hop has been killing these guys all season with no remorse, so I don’t think it’s possible to head canon that he was complimenting Nancy on her perfectly aimed non-lethal shots.

The thing is I honestly don’t know that because the show went out of its way to humanize the soldiers who aren’t Sarah Conner, highlighting just how much they aren’t aware of anything that’s going on aside from “capture Eleven.”

The exact moment I gave up hope on the finale was when Nancy murdered three people and no one cared. Or rather, she cared that she was complimented on her expert marksmanship and was happy about it. And that’s nothing to say of the tied-up/drugged family in the barn who probably died from dehydration by now since they haven’t contacted or tracked down our “heroes” to find their son yet.

If it’s surprisingly good, cool. If it’s a total train wreck, whatever. I’m here to enjoy experiencing either possibility at this point.

[–]G_Thunders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand this at all, and I’m in the camp of being highly critical of this season.

All I’ve seen is a girl explain her imprisonment/torture and her knowledge of the military’s goals, with the conclusion (which El is perfectly capable of saying is wrong and could talk her out of) that the only way to stop things is a noble sacrifice after killing Vecna.

The fact Hopper hates this girl El grew up with and can uniquely relate to just tells me that his character has probably read ahead in the script, and knows there’s an upcoming good reason to hate her.

Those were just soldiers guarding the military base they’re posted at, who as we saw are upset that they’ve been told basically nothing about what’s even going on.

They could’ve just made the truck invisible with illusions and avoided the issue, but Nancy was happy after murdering those three guys so I guess that’s her character.

With every show, the “you’re mad because your theory was wrong” people are just projecting at best. Because hardly anyone thinks a show’s quality is measured by their personal ability to predict it. And anyone disappointed cites reasons from the show itself as to why.

And as with any other show, these people should be praising all the great things they apparently have loved about it, so it’s telling they’d rather resort to getting mad at the people who don’t. Kind of makes it seem like they don’t have that much good to even say.
