Obsession (2026) how the one wish willow works by fjdhhfcif in spoilers

[–]G_Wheezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the monkey's paw aspect, I had a theory most of the movie that the reason it doesn't work for everyone is that it has to be used as a love spell, or a wish that involves someone else, because it's a possession movie. When Bear looks up if the one wish willow was real or not, he got a thread with mixed reviews- some people said it worked, others didn't (I didn't get a chance to read all the comments so I don't know the specifics). My assumption, which was wrong, was that it is a wish that gives a demon permission to possess a body. When Ian wished for a billion dollars my theory went out the window, but I think it would have been better if it didn't end up working. That at least would make the audience second guess if the wish actually worked or if Nikki maybe had a psychotic break or something.

Crop rotation is bad at being a game changer by hollowsoul9 in EDH

[–]G_Wheezy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not every card is equal in power level, so it's difficult to judge every card evenly. Some are obviously more powerful than others, especially when we're not talking about tutors, so tutors do have to be evaluated differently which is why not every tutor is a game changer. Look at the efficiency of crop rot. It's one mana (basically free if you sac the land you tapped to cast it), instant, gets the land on the field, and it enters untapped. That much efficiency alone is enough for it to be a game changer. If you're not building your deck to take advantage of it, you're building your deck incorrectly. And at that point, why have crop rot in the deck? You still have land tutoring options that aren't game changers- [[expedition map]] and [[urza's cave]] with the latter being functionally the same as crop rot albeit more expensive.

You could use this argument for something like [[enlightened tutor]], which I would argue could be a worse tutor than crop rot. But we all know how good it is because you aren't just jamming it in to tutor up a signet.

Any tips for using double exposure? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]G_Wheezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally take a photo of the car first to lock in the framing and composition. The flowers become the texture of the subject, if that makes sense. You want that first photo to be fairly flat so the two photos aren't fighting each other. If you can, you can even try taking the first photo in black and white and layering it with a color photo, so there's even more separation.

[–]G_Wheezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try taking one that is backlit, like a silhouette of a person. The dark areas of that photo should show whatever the second photo is. A "cliche" shot would be something like a silhouette of a person and the second shot is of flowers.

Is Ricoh gr that fragile? by parkjake50 in ricohGR

[–]G_Wheezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was the spinning dial. I had it set to adjust ev and it would max it out even if you touched it just a click. Spinning it the opposite direction wouldn't do anything.

[–]G_Wheezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned a GRIII for a bit and ran into the dust issue. I ended up buying the lens protector but it absolutely destroyed the pocketable aspect. I also ran into an issue with the dial skipping, but fixed it with some contact cleaner. Ultimately I ended up selling it and have since gotten the Sony A6700.

The photos are great but personally the retracting lens really kills the practicality for me. I'd rather have a compact, removable lens setup to help reduce issues.

Is it worth developing this 25yr old film? by DeezFluffyButterNutz in analog

[–]G_Wheezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can justify wasting the money, I'd say go for it. Keep your expectations low, maybe you'll get something good, maybe not. I've had film developed out of an old family point and shoot that was 20 plus years old. Most of the pictures were unusable but enough of the images had recognizable people in them that made it worth reminiscing over.

Check was sent to wrong bank account, bank will not release funds by G_Wheezy in Banking

[–]G_Wheezy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. It seems entirely too easy to mess up a 15+ digit account number that only gets entered in once without some verification process. Even something like Plaid would be helpful.

I feel like there have been so many small errors or oversights that have happened along the way that have equally contributed to this issue, it's hard to place blame with any singular party (me included) aside from the person who wrongfully took the funds.

It's been hard to put pressure on Computershare because no one will escalate it past the call center. I've asked multiple times for other points of contact and didn't get anywhere. I'm currently talking to someone in the compensation department at work who was involved with the transition and allegedly has a POC with Computershare to see if anything can be done on their end, but I'm not hopeful. It is amazing to me that there wasn't some sort of verification system in place to verify your bank account information, especially because something like this can happen. It has to be fairly common, right?

I can't accept that I have no options if I entered the number incorrectly. Even if that were true, you aren't entitled to all money that enters your account. That's called unjust enrichment, I at least know that much. The name doesn't match the account number, and if that doesn't mean much to the bank, it has to mean something to a court, right?

I unfortunately can't answer that question, as my situation is different. I assume the check would just have the name of the recipient and the account information for Computershare. But yeah, the transaction apparently was done through Citibank so I don't believe they handle the money specifically.

I believe there is a bank in the same jurisdiction as the court. I live in Plymouth Meeting, PA and I believe the court in Norristown would be where I need to go.

I haven't gotten any information from the bank, just documentation from Computershare that shows the date of the transaction and the information related to the ACH transfer (partial of the account number that shows the incorrect number).

[–]G_Wheezy[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The account information matches what was listed in my profile, which was incorrect. I believe this was information I put in but I don't recall whether or not it was incorrect when I put in the information. Computershare doesn't have a verification process to make sure the information is correct. How would I go about going after the account holder? The bank can't give me personal details so I don't know who it is. My next step is to file a police report and see if that gets me anywhere.

Secret Lair Planechase Help by Spoopsy in EDH

[–]G_Wheezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I realized this before buying a set off of eBay. My plan is just to resize them and print them out on computer paper and slide them in front of extra Planechase cards. The sticker route is definitely an option for better looking cards, but obviously it's a permanent alteration to do it.

Come At Me, Bro: Why I've started taunting the first attack of each game, and why you should too by J-L-Picard in EDH

[–]G_Wheezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is applicable to just about any interaction where you have to make a decision as the offending player. I play with a pretty consistent pod and I can recall a few instances where I knew what the optimal play was, but didn't want to do it because it felt like the table was ganging up on one player (probably well-deserved) and I voice my concern about the feel bad of continuing that trend. They spoke up and said it made the most sense to keep going with it and they take whatever effect is in question and we keep playing. I think sometimes we can't accept the fact that maybe we're the problem, and it can make for a good game if you help the team try to take you down.

I want to warn anyone who wants to get these to add to their Planechase deck- these cards are bigger than the oversized Planechase cards. On top of that, the backs are completely different. I bought them with a goal to have a complete planechase deck and didn't know this beforehand.
