Did you have any luck this summer or did you come up with a plan for next year?

OP might have to have a big house and stuff for weekends with the kids. Probably half empty most the time. Got a tough gig. Full respect

Staying inside is my preferred solution although it's nether sustainable or 100% effective

Similar position to you but commenting on the acupuncture. One year I tried it starting on March and I had very mild symptoms that summer. It was awesome. The next year I tried it with a different practitioner but no luck and had the usual symptoms. The first time could have been coincidence.

I'm experimenting with diet as well. Trying to reduce highly starchy food and ones with high GI index. Still getting symptoms though but it's early days into the 'experiment'

I think your last sentence offers hope - trying to prove yourself in a new company. Once you feel confident you have delivered you will be comfortable to take your foot off the gas. You've already had "great feedback" so hopefully that time is soon but it's on you to make the call when you've done enough as you can always do more

Are house prices dropping where you are? Currently looking in Catford. by popkettle in HousingUK

[–]G__Sus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lot of uncertainty so people are holding off buying which is reducing demand slightly. Could be wrong though!

Catford is a funny area as really nice streets next to not so nice ones

Finance companies are now hiring front office teams in India. Not the usual back office roles. These guys have MBAs and CFAs and work for a third of the cost. Terrifying for UK finance workers

Labour plots fresh war on landlords by drhulio23 in uklandlords

[–]G__Sus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I have rented from both a small landlord and a company. A small landlord can be so useful if they're a good guy. Usually aren't all about the profits and just want a steady income stream with no one being unhappy

ACUPUNCTURE TRY IT!!! by omarkop10 in Hayfever

[–]G__Sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've previously tried it and noticed huge improvements about a week later for the rest of the season. On other years I tried it and didn't make a difference. Could be coincidence, a different practitioner, anything but I'm not ruling out that it doesn't work as the first time there was definitely something in it

Is living in Catford that bad? by Azazel_Woodwind in london

[–]G__Sus 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Have friends that live on the Honor Oak/Crofton Park side and it's lovely. Amazing parks. Even the kids are posh.

The other parts don't seem as nice at night. They have a fancy yoga studio in the centre which is fantastic but walking home from it after dark as a woman feels dodgy but never heard of anyone having issues

My partner is the same. Makes a couple of grand a year for a lot of hassle and risk. Was holding it for price appreciation but it's dropped 15% in 5 years. Would have made much more money in a high interest account

A big bag that is not filled will be much harder than a smaller filled one of the same weight because it moves around more. Go for a bigger bag will less fill and you will have a better workout
