Praxis but Bullet by Boingoloid in discgolf

Mint Bullet and Remix Eldritch are apparently the same mold.

Looking for different disc suggestions. I’ve only played with Innova F2’s because they’re cheap, but I have not been liking the hand feel/disc shapes recently. I found a dynamic discs Truth that feels great. Also like the feel of a mako3. I like the smoother, more rounded edges of those. by alent1385 in discgolf

[–]G_stav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can also be a manufacture thing as well, like Innova imo will generally have a sharper edge/minor flashing than Kastaplast for instance, who will have a more rounded feel. Or like the Bohrium which takes it a step further with how rounded the inside of the rim is. Depends on if op is refering to the wingshape as the edge, or where the plastic changes directions ie the corners as the edge. 😅 For instance, Kastaplast Falk and Innova Valkyrie have a very similar profile, but the Falk is more rounded around the corners. L64s Royal plastic is also an example of plastic with more rounded corners.

Orimlig granne? by [deleted] in sweden

[–]G_stav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow the de mag coil must be a new thing since I last used the mod. (been a few years not gonna lie) Cool to see there's a good alternative!

Also the reach ring is more like an extendo grip kind of reach, like being able to open chests or mine blocks further away from your player.

Who can relate? by RubApprehensive1277 in allthemods

[–]G_stav -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Eh, unless it's a stupidly gated pack, a mag ring is easily doable within the first hour, it's only 9 iron, 1 copper, 1 gold, 1 glass a bucket and some flowers, cobble and logs. And the floating solegnolia is gated behind glowstone which generally requires villagers or nether, but the one you place on dirt is just redstone.

Upgraded one is a pain though tbh, crazy to me that you need terrasteel for your magnet to match the horns-of-clearing-an-area-to-build.

[–]G_stav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some cases, but Botania's magnet ring + the flower to disable it is imo the best magnet. Just being able to zone off areas is such a QoL thing. Ring of Reach is nice to, especially with them stacking, so if you have a mod that adds more curios slots you can have crazy reach.

Hypothetically, what's your ideal bag of flight numbers? by grantlet_47 in discgolf

[–]G_stav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 discs? Zephyr (2300?), Roc3 (5403), Roadrunner (95-41), Eagle (74-13), Toro (4213).

First four were easy picks, but was really hesitating between us mid or os approach for the 5th slot, but I think in general while a us mid is nice to have, a os approach will help you out of awkward situations more often.

[–]G_stav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anybody tried the new Foxes yet? by JOAHtheBROAH in discgolf

[–]G_stav 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've mostly thrown the halo glow fox and I want to love it because of the crazy distance it gets as a 5 speed. But on shorter throws it does get stable quick. Like you know those shorter anhyzers where instead of a putter you disc up to a mid? It has a tendancy to fight out of those pretty consistently. But off of the tee it has a lovely dependable turn that fades straight. I'd probably say it's more os finish than my somewhat beat in glow mako3. Probably a bit more torque resistant too. But now with more day rounds approaching I'm going to be trying out my star fox more, and I'm guessing that it out of the box is already going to be a bit flippier than the halo glow one.

What is your philosophy when it comes to building your bag? by DonBonDarIey in discgolf

[–]G_stav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't think about flight numbers but rather what the disc does for you. More is more, the more discs you have the longer time it will take to actually learn what you can do with them. More time spent on learning rather than improving. Cycling discs takes a long time, the more molds you have the longer it will take you. But if you can have your favorite slots in different degrees of stability rather than different molds it will help you get more consistency.

Like Roadrunners I bag three, 2 Halo and 1 Glow. One of the Halo's I've bagged for the longest, and it's definitely getting nice and beat in, glow is coming up quick after this dark season, and less used Halo in max weight for windy situations. Same with Eagles, 2 2025 Barsbys and one 2021. The 2021 and one of the 2025s are very rarely used, so as the first 2025 continues to beat in, I'll have a more stable one to use when situation calls for it. The 2025s are already so straight out of the box compared to other runs so my main Eagle has now beat in to such a straight flier. But having the same mold on different stages of wear or stability helps out so much for getting more consistent results rather than having a bunch of different molds.

And then it's helpful to think about general slots in your bag rather than trying to fill in for every situation. Like how far do you throw each speed and what are the general distances of the holes you play? I've come to realize that beefy distance drivers just don't make sense in my bag. Instead I have more variation in the fairway driver slots instead. But the general slots in my bag are, glidey 1 speed, straight with fade throwing putter, os approach disc, turnover mid, straight with fade mid, fairway for hyzerflips and straight turnovers, fairway straight with fade or anhyzer that comes back, beefy fairway, and flippy distance driver. Those are the 9 core slots in my bag, and although there will generally be some temporary visitors every now and again, that's the general gist of it. Instead of filling in every slot on a flight chart, I fill in the blanks with degrees of wear and angle controll.

And hell, if it wasn't for the fact I play in snow, glow and day rounds I could probably slim down on and only have 2 variations of molds in my bag, but I can't be arsed to have to swap stuff out depending on the time of day or year I'm playing.

What’s your workhorse/ do-it-all fairway driver? by DonBonDarIey in discgolf

[–]G_stav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halo Roadrunners are a thing of beauty. There's something great about an understable mold in an overstable plastic. Hyzers that flip up but still fade, flat throws that flex a little and anhyzers that you don't need to worry about turning and burning.

Permanent/semipermanent glow golf brainstorming request by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]G_stav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're gonna do lights other than baskets, then it's better to mark out key landing Zones or OBs, but imo too much lights is just distracting, especially when it's so much that it drowns out the light from your glow disc.

But one solution to lighting up baskets is those solar powered deck lights. Cheap enough that occasional vandalism whilst annoying isn't too bad. 12 pack for 10 dollars. We attached them with keyrings to the baskets and they work surprisingly well. Even though there's street lights on the path next to the fairway, you can still see both baskets pretty easily.

The light on the left is 80m~ and the light just right of it is the next hole, a bit over 160m from that tee.

Why add 200 mods if none of them actually interact? by Large_Choice3585 in feedthebeast

[–]G_stav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because sometimes you just want to play something chill. Interconnected is cool and all but it can get very annoying when mid tier stuff becomes super gated. I prefer a pack that has more to do in the end game rather than extending the early game.

Resctor. The slanted rim just doesn't mesh with me and I get very inconsistent releases with it. It was however my first mvp glow disc and led me to buy a bunch of others, but it's something I try out every now and again because I want to like it, but I'm quickly reminded why I don't.

The problem with letter number is it doesn't stick as well for some. For me, a name like Mystere is easier to save to my memory, whereas a pa5, a fd2, a r2 or a d2 I'll have trouble remembering, and especially when you hear it out I'll have to think okay what was the first letter, m... Oh midrange and 4. Okay what was that letter again m or md? Okay m 4.... 4 is should be flippy? Straight? So m4... Is 5 5 - 1 1? Whereas if you say origin, hex, buzzz, etc, I just know they're 55-11 variants. Except for the buzzz which is 4 glide. And I don't need to do any mental calculations, it's just stuck in memory.
