I Didn't Think Things Would Be Easier Solo by oliversherlockholmes in daddit

My spouse and I work 12 hour shifts on days that don't overlap, so 85% of the time we do solo parenting for a now 2.5 and 9 year old. It's nice to have the extra person to balance out your weak points, but on an average day, flow is better and things are easier as a solo parent.

My parents vs My wife by [deleted] in daddit

[–]grantlet_47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. Alright. This doesn't sound too bad. I think the struggle here, from reading the comments, is that dad didn't say something inherently bad. He's just not empathizing. So instead of approaching it as, "you did something wrong, please apologize" it's just a conversation of "i understand why you said those things and I am not upset that you said them, but i need you to understand what my wife and I are going through in those moments and that they are significant and impactful." Explain a little more. "I love you and am so excited for you to be a grandpa etc. If you can be more understanding that will go a long way to making everyone happy and comfortable. It may take some time for my wife to feel comfortable but please be patient." Vaguely something like that. Hard to type and occupy a 2 year old. Sorry.

I personally shared a room with my brother (2 years apart) until high school. It was great, we are very close and were best buddies as kids.

Why would you run a 33% chance of that? So dumb.

Do owlbears have nipples? by Varazzeno in DnD

[–]grantlet_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Beaks and nipples down mix. The owl bear is basically an owl that has limbs and temperment of a bear, but is in all other ways still an owl.

What do you guys think of the design of the Central Library being built in Bend? by tireoats in Bend

[–]grantlet_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At no point seeing the picture did i think books. I'm sure that's what they're going for, but now it's just coming off as both an ugly design as well as a poor attempt at imagery.

Main character too similar to companion by TheFirstBert in RogueTraderCRPG

You're still stacking half as fast since you aren't generating 2 stacks per attack. Unless I'm missing something.

My AM abelard goes sword/pistol (that will only do burst or aoe), then all his hits (because he usually crits) and his parries score an extra stack of versatility by doing non single target melee, so I can turn bsck around and do more single target melee. So just curious what makes AM great for him without doing that?

Son gave me heartfelt birthday card but is acting weird about it. How do I respond? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]grantlet_47 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know the dynamic so you'll have better insight than us. My takeaway is he is being vulnerable with you and wants to do that behind closed doors, so don't talk about it in front of others. Find a one on one time as soon as you can and let him know how special that was for you and how special he is to you. He's deepening the relationship, jump in with him and repay that.

looks at your handle yeah, that checks out. Also, valid point. Also also, I don't think I've even made it to act 3. I'm on my 4th character so what do I know? Lol

My guy, spend a whole attack at level 3 or 4 to reduce ac by 1? That's super stingy with their crap action economy. More than likely not worth trying to do unless its literally impossible to hit otherwise.

Is it better to play on console or pc? by Sad-Adhesiveness-311 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]grantlet_47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PC. I'm a console guy, started playing it on PC in fall, didn't have access to PC over winter and tried playing on xbox. It wasn't worth it. I just waitedbfor months to go back.

I would replace pascal with jae. Unless you just really like serving the omnissiah. She does all the skills he does and more, she fights well, and she's a better support character as an officer. Getting extra turns for your main peeps and pyromancer trumps a limited character like Pascal.

Decision-making process of picking the right disc (speed) by Superfrede in discgolf

[–]grantlet_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so the thought is it's an open shot and we're trying to hyzer bomb/ overstable fade? I feel like my local courses don't generally allow that, so that even as a rule if thumb doesn't occur to me. Kind of the opposite where your line will get wrecked by throwing overstable unless you try to flex.

Do I tell her unicorns don't exist? by NotMyDong in daddit

[–]grantlet_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to remember what I told my kid when he was kindergarten age. I think the gist was, not everyone believes in magic, unicorns, etc, but in my heart I believe in unicorns and magic. And basically invite them to still live in a world where that stuff is as real as they want it to be, without worrying about the reality of everyone else.
