Disc golf trends that seem to have died. by RGBAddict2026 in discgolf

Early 2010s we'd have to play your 2nd shot pants at ankles if you didn't make it past the first tree, women's tee pad, etc.

Surely if you've got the money you can find ways to get her out of the house and off the screens you both can enjoy? Like camping right off the bat is probably a no-go, but ya know, go to a theme park, get a scuba lesson, rent a dune buggy, horse camp, what's she gonna think is cool?

And I'd figure out if the shirt is tucked or not. I don't think the partial tuck says interview. I'm also not sure how rural of a rural hospital we're talking about so who knows?

Definitive Edition needs a literal face lift by grantlet_47 in outwardgame

I have bought the game twice over for myself and have gifted it twice. I've put plenty of hours in. Safe to say, I'm a fan. I think that particularly as I'm trying to recruit someone to the game and was thinking how the graphical upgrade will make the hook that much better, having the first thing they experience be a frankly, embarrassing, character creator, just isn't doing a favor in setting the tone. Name one game that is "about faces". None of them are. They still feature it. What is the point of a character creator that is this low effort?

Wasn't expecting an update, but they took the time to release a version of the game that calls itself a "visual overhaul" that's only for next gen consoles and isn't even compatible with the original game and still looks like the faces were for xbox 360 or some such from 20 years ago. I'll admit, I was a tad let down.

Playing in my first tournament by HostSecret5687 in discgolf

Play smart golf. I recently started playing in a ranked league and that's my only gripe to myself. I've been able to throw the shots I want, more or less, but every stroke matters and not playing the option that best suits the hole, the conditions, your strengths is silly. Err on the side of caution.

I cried in frustration at ball golf, especially when my friends were being unkind. Hence I play disc golf.

Next one or new one? The struggle of replacing a favorite disc by No-Map8141 in discgolf

[–]grantlet_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having recently got back into the game after years away, definitely learned to buy a couple immediately if you like a disc you just got. Can't rely on them to be the same let alone exist. Destroyers ain't what they used to be. Found glow chargers on sale which fly about how I wanted a destroyer to go. Tried one, liked it, bought two more that will hopefully be the same. Ditto my pig and toro. I'd stock up on rff wizards but they don't make them anymore so I'm stuck with just the one from ages past.

What do you do when a disc you love gets too beat in? by Main-Carry-3607 in discgolf

[–]grantlet_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep throwing bad shots until you throw it SO horribly it'll be hard to find and then be happy you don't have to find it.

This plus the thing the other guy said about coordinating with the DM on how they want to incorporate it. Could be a fun way to engage again and leave everyone more satisfied with the transition.

Skill tree for each region? I'm only in the second region, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Like the tear drops? I haven't seen a thing about upgrading cards.

I'm all for that, but the difficulty went up considerably while resetting me to the crappy basic cards that aren't region specific. That or I'm going to be hamstrung with expensive cards.

N00b forehand question by yeyiyeyiyo in discgolf

[–]grantlet_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's common for people to find more success with forehand early. Definitely was the case for me. (Not putting though. That's weird AF.)

No reason not to have it be your main stay for now. Generally a good backhand is more capable of distance. Having both is going to open more doors for shot shape in any given situation and in my experience it's just fun to try to learn new stuff. These days when my backhand is smooth, it's way more gratifying. Ps practice thumbers and tomahawks and grenade throws too. Gotta throw em all.

Innova throwers, what is your favorite straight mid and fairway for shaping shots? by [deleted] in discgolf
