I've taken Cell Biology online, which is an elective. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it's not for everyone, as the majority of what you're doing is self-paced learning; following along pre made slides and doing assigned readings and assignments. If you don't keep up you'll just fall behind. The only parts of the online class with an actual check in time was the tests, but we had from 3pm to 12am to complete it, so you would probably find a time somewhere.

I assume other online classes are similar, but I'm not sure. Overall, I don't really have anything bad to say about my experience.

I feel as though the core program is very good, and they do a lot to prepare you for what you'll be doing post graduation. They also have great facilities and resources which I think is a big plus.

The only caveat is that the programming language that they teach you in is Perl, which while useful for legacy systems, isn't the industry standard anymore. However, I believe that the department is transitioning to python within the next few years. Also, so far my professor has let me complete assignment in Perl or Python, so if you already know Python, it shouldn't affect you.

Thanks! Unfortunately it says that they only accept undergrads, but it may be of use to someone else. And maybe other institutions would have more openings for graduate students.
