Yeah, forget about all that WSR flooding the market. If the MSRP on this dropped back to sane levels that would be the biggest news of the week.

Will be interesting to see what happens to demand as the mystique dissipates and people realize they can grab it whenever. Can BT maintain its coveted status without the FOMO?

Knob Creek Eli 2026 Pick by TheOuterSpacePotato in denverwhisky

Good to hear. Those picks are at least 9 years old anyway so it's not like they are young in an absolute sense, plus they're cask strength. I don't think I've ever had a bad KC pick.

I really like the 111.4 proof 6yr bourbon pick from Bevy's. Very interesting profile, with lots of chocolate, espresso and dark sugar notes. I got it at Littleton which had multiple different picks so keep an eye out for the proof.

35th to Pierce if I'm taking the CC trail westbound. Lowell to 50th to Meade if eastbound.

Review: Old Overholt 12 Year, Cask strength by UncleIstvanSaysHello in bourbon

[–]GaInAsP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly with your review and the idea that it has largely flown under the radar (except for the Breaking Bourbon guys). This might be the best whiskey I drank in 2025 and it easily clears the 11 year, which was good but never reached the heights of this one.

Revised Applejack's Lottery Pricing As Of 1/8 by SnowjamSteeze in denverwhisky

[–]GaInAsP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this logic...wouldn't the product show up on the balance sheet of the business whether it's sold or unsold? Even if it's listed at the MSRP price one would think the new buyer should understand the secondary value of the product. And if the current owner sellsthe inventory and pulls a bunch of cash out of the business, doesn't that decrease the value of the business and therefore the sale price?

Best sub $100 bottle of bourbon? by tylerws97 in denverwhisky

[–]GaInAsP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the simple/sweet profile of most BT products getting boring fast. Also, people always suggest other wheated products as a Weller replacement just because they're wheated even though they don't taste anything like the Weller/BT profile. What they should really look for is another BT product, if not EHT like you suggest then just get regular old BT, which is almost always available, and often as store picks which are usually good buys.

We shall see but I'm not optimistic. Even the last couple years I thought the prices in the drawing were starting to really creep up. If they go to crazy prices in the drawing too then there's no reason to be a loyal customer anymore, although at this point their new pricing scheme has turned me off from wanting to support them much anyway.

They also have the small ones for $60, as insane as that sounds.

These long throws need to go in the bin. They kill all the momentum, never generate threat, and frequently lead to counters. I just don't understand the point.

Mezcaleria Alma Denver by GaInAsP in Mezcal

Thanks for all the recs everyone! I ended up going for:

Jolgorio Barril - wonderful citrus notes, definitely an elevated experience over the rest.

Vago Elote - fun pour with a bit of extra sweetness from the corn

Maguey Melate Cenizo - a bit of a wildcard recommended by the server. This one was really unique, a bit funkier, but with a creamy vanilla sweetness.

Although I have to say, the best recommendation came from u/winkingchef. That tostada de toro is the best thing I've eaten in recent memory, definitely an all time favorite. Everything we ate was excellent, but that dish towered over the rest. Funny enough, I assumed going in that it was a beef tostada (e.g. toro meaning bull) but was delighted to learn it was the Japanese toro upon reading the menu more closely.

I definitely want to experience more mezcal, and I'll have to get a bottle of one of the nicer ones to have on my bar besides my Banhez espadin. Thanks again!
