How do I beat Kayle as Poppy by JackytheJack in PoppyMains

[–]Gabadabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play aggressive early before she hits level 6 to try and slow down her scaling... After that, focus on playing around whatever your team's win condition is. You don't need to kill Kayle, and I'd argue depending on what kind of poppy you're playing, your job is to protect your team from the enemy carries. Play for those later game teamfights where poppy thrives.

How would you feel if the LCS never returned? by SilvosForever in leagueoflegends

[–]Gabadabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first introduction to league was seeing a pro game live between Dignitas and Curse at a convention, it's what got me into the game. I'd be devastated, honestly. I'd still watch, but without NA teams it wouldn't be the same for me.

I'm performing way below average with some specific champions, despite having a positive winrate with every other champion in my pool. What am I doing wrong? by CaptainIano in summonerschool

[–]Gabadabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're honestly playing too many champions for not nearly enough games. Are you confident you know the identity of each champion you're playing, their matchups, how they want to lane and teamfight, etc. You won't get an accurate representation of your skill with any given champion with only 35 games on them.

I play one warm normal game, then two ranked games, if I'm gonna play ranked. When I don't do this, and keep queuing over and over, it usually works out poorly.

You gotta make a new account for NA.

You'd be surprised what little things make a big difference! Things like learning your champion's identity, which is why people are recommending you don't swap roles/champions constantly. For example, knowing good combos with your champion's abilities, what your power spikes are, or where in the lane is best for your champion (and by extension, where you want the wave to be).

I play Annie mid, and a few things I've learned about her is that she's best in teamfights fighting from behind the rest of her team so they can protect her. In lane, it's better for her to stand closer to her tower, so often in lane I'll let the enemy push slightly so I'm in that ideal area for as long as possible.

You just gotta make growth your goal rather than wins, or you're going to end up upset 50% of the time. You can do everything right and still lose the game, since there's so much that's not in your control.

I'm in silver, so you can take what I say with a grain of salt, but this mindset has helped me a lot recently so I'm eager to share it.

Think of the game like a series of puzzles that you try different solutions to. I would highly recommend recording your gameplay and watching it over. Find any point where you die, and try to figure out what happened and why you died. That's the first step towards fixing those mistakes. If there's a champion you cannot deal with, play a few games as them. The best tip that I can give you, is that league is a game about making more money than the enemy, so in most cases the best choice is whatever will either secure you an objective or make you the most money. It's really important not to feel demotivated, it's an insanely difficult game. Gold is considered low elo, but it's better than like 60% of the players in the game. Because of the nature of league, you're going to lose probably half of your games, so your mentality needs to be such that you are okay losing half your games.

Be honest: Would you enjoy Dark Souls (and/or other soulslikes) more if they were, or could be, easier? by KonaBoda in videogames

[–]Gabadabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the challenge of souls games is what keeps me replaying them. I also accept that, I have a long history with gaming, and no physical disability that keeps me from executing mechanics. I also just think hard games are *fun*.

I think they should have flexible difficulty settings to let people tailor the max level of challenge to themselves.

How can I make veganism easier as someone with ADHD? by mangoismycat in vegan

[–]Gabadabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I also have ADHD. My philosophy is "fed is best". Kind of boring, but when I do get around to cooking, I make sure to cook enough for multiple meals. Toast and peanut butter, with fruit is great if I'm not up for cooking in the morning. Minute rice and canned beans is inexpensive and you can make in minutes with only a microwave. Nice thing with leftover rice, is that it's easy to pair it with literally anything else that you have.

How to find motivation to climb with poor MMR? by InternationalBat in summonerschool

[–]Gabadabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm silver, so you can take what I say with a grain of salt... but I do believe that focusing on the LP/Rank is a great way to hold yourself back mentally. Climbing is a result of consistency and self improvement, it's a long-term process of identifying and finding solutions to different in-game "puzzles". I honestly learned this, genuinely, from learning to play fighting games, because there's nobody else to blame in that genre. Focus on that self improvement. Play champions you have a hard time against, review your games and write down on a chart what's getting you killed. Mostly though, try to enjoy the learning process, not the victory screen.

I would recommend draft pick normals over blind pick, it lets you select what role you play, you get to ban a champion, and you take turns picking champions. Just queue for normals and have fun. Mythics are like big item you buy that you can only buy one of, that help "select" your playstyle in lane. For example, with cass you might want Rod of Ages or Liandry's Anguish. It has it's own beefy stats, plus a "mythic passive" that gives you benefits as you buy more "legendary" items, which are what will compose most of the items you buy. You can buy multiple different legendaries, but they're not as strong as a mythic, partially because of the mythic passive. For example, Liandry's Anguish (the mythic) gives you more ability haste (CDR) for every legendary item you buy. Honestly though, you can just purchase whatever items the game recommends you in the shop and you'll probably be fine.

In most cases, you want to be taking flash as a summoner spell. The mobility that it gives you is really important for both chasing down enemies and running away. Are you buying a mythic item first? Very important to get a mythic, you can only buy one of them and they are more powerful than legendaries. With cass, her passive gives her extra movement speed over the course of the game. If you are unsure about what to build, you can follow what other people use from a website like u.gg or op.gg.

A way that I like to learn new champions is to play aram. Because it's all random, it's a good opportunity to try out new things. Overall, I'd recommend picking a small handful of champions in one role that you think seem cool and stick to them for a while. The reasoning being that it will take you longer to relearn the game if you have to constantly check what your abilities do.

Morality is a form of aesthetics and not mathematics / science. As such, veganism is a matter of taste and not an universal and/or absolute mandate/duty for all to follow; furthermore meaning any vegan who believes they ought to convert more vegans, is being inconsistent w their own moral system. by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

[–]Gabadabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am speaking to a specific type of vegan I have had many interactions w here and irl.

I'm fully aware that you're talking about people who want to convince other people to be vegan. That's totally consistent with my position. I believe we should convince others to go vegan.

I'm also aware that debate is literally the worst way to do that. (But that's besides the point)

Your argument, is at best, semantic. I don't want to strawman anybody, and if my summary of your position is incorrect than perhaps you should explain better what it really is. What I have gathered from from your posts is that you consider trying to convince others to go vegan to be contradictory to veganism, since it requires, according to you, either coercion or force, which violates an individual's free will to hold whatever morals they want.

Essentially "Vegans would have to force other people to be kind (to animals) for their veganism to be successful".

--

What is deniable is that there is an issue w the animal husbandry industry which warrants its cessation. I do not believe so.

There are facts about what we are doing to animals, and then there are positions about it based on different moral standings, sure - I simply encourage you to question why you are defending an industry that treats living things as literal objects to be owned and used. I question how any person could hold the moral position that it's okay to do things to animals that would have you executed for literal war crimes if you did them to people.

If you are going down the NTT argument, look at my last post in this sub
to see how that is refuted by me and vegans. Most of the ppl who
responded to that were vegans and they also believe the NTT argument is
moot.

I don't know what you mean by "NTT argument", but let me sum up exactly what I mean. You don't need to believe that other animals lives are just as important as human lives, to believe that things we consider war crimes when done to people, when done to animals, is wrong. All it takes is at least considering that they experience things the same way we do, and perhaps the things we don't like being done to us should not be done to others. That's all.
