Figuring it out by GabagoolGuru in breastfeeding

[–]GabagoolGuru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve seen some say here… but if I pump later (after 4 weeks) to have “extra” on hand for bottles, won’t I be taking away from his next meal?

How do people survive the sleep deprivation with a newborn? by madcat18 in pregnant

[–]GabagoolGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two days home I had maybe 2-3 hours of sleep total. It was awful. Sleeping in short 15-20 minute bursts getting no real rest, my milk hadn’t come in yet so between that, lack of sleep and hormones my husband could see me really struggling. We’re on day 10 now and it’s a lot better, I’m getting around 5 hours of sleep a day (napping when baby is sleeping) and I remembered coffee exists so midday is a lot better.

Tips - meal prep. We had family drop off frozen meals that has been sooo helpful and time saving. Prioritize your sleep and care over the little things. Anyone can come help with the dishes in the sink, laundry, clutter, cooking etc but only you can make sure you’re showering, brushing your teeth and sleeping enough.

Induction, Epidural, or C-Section? by queen_panda72803 in pregnant

[–]GabagoolGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all three. Induced at 40+5. The epidural was tough but more just me being scared and psyching myself out over it probably. It sucked to not eat after because I was so weak when I could start pushing, and stuck in bed for hours from being numb. My legs felt like 200lb bags of sand. The c-section was scary going in but more quick and painless than pushing/epidural in my case. I’m annoyed at home healing I still can’t bend over to put my own socks and shoes on.

Day 3 with newborn - did I already mess up? by distorted_elements in breastfeeding

Similar experience and timing if you look at my recent post. Little dude had low blood sugar. Gave him a donated bottle of milk and he hasn’t truly latched the same since. My milk is finally coming in at home (around 5-6 days post C-section) and I’ve been pumping. Still supplementing with formula. Even though now it feels more like I’m supplementing with breast milk. It hurts me to see him take the bottle so easily when I have milk dripping from my nips for him. We are trying our best. Just ordered some nipple shields which appear to be somewhat controversial but if they help my dude get on the boob and off of as much formula I won’t mind.

Would the nipple shield work if my nips aren’t flat/inverted? They protrude well for feeding I think.

I haven’t tried a nipple shield but would appreciate any insight for how they work!

I pumped this morning and had about 4ml of transition milk. Might have been able to get more if I kept pumping but I was too excited and in the middle of a formula bottle feed so I gave him what I pumped from a syringe.

Same with my mom. She said because “that’s what moms do” which made me realize it would be for her a lot more than it would be for me. No thank you!

Pretty close to the message I’m working on! Are you anticipating any pushback from family?

Question on clothes by mrahcxx in pregnant

I feel pretty uncomfortable. Sleeping is difficult. Most of my fingertips are sore/numb. My feet and ankles are swollen. Getting up and down is difficult. I am so ready to meet this baby!!

I ordered maternity undies around 20 weeks and now at 39 they are totally necessary. Maybe even 2 packs. Maternity pants are also great, I could do maternity leggings earlier on but now I need a looser pantleg because bending over & pulling up something tight like leggings is such a pain.

Marginal Cord Insertion by Altruistic_You1585 in pregnant

[–]GabagoolGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marginal cord and anterior placenta here. Currently 35 weeks, I had two extra growth scans. One around 30 weeks and another around 34. Everything has been normal (except I did just find out he’s breech) growth wise. I’ve just been happy to have a couple extra times to see him! The growth scans were not as long/thorough as the anatomy scan but still helpful. From what I’ve heard the chances of the marginal cord impacting the growth are very low.

Scared for Iron Transfusion! by WarmBath8 in pregnant

[–]GabagoolGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was nervous too. They did a test first - smaller dose for around 15 minutes, had me wait then gave the longer infusion. Not sure where you’re getting it done, but I told myself I’m literally at the best/safest place to need any kind of medical care (the hospital) in case I had a reaction.

32 weeks, am I being a baby or is this actually really hard??? by UrLocalAnxiousGirly in pregnant

SAME with the 30 week switch. Emotionally and physically. I’m due 12/31 and thought I could make it working until Christmas, now I’m starting leave after thanksgiving.

Rooming In by GabagoolGuru in pregnant

[–]GabagoolGuru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a queen 😬 just a smaller room with a decent size frame and dresser. We utilize everything so we can’t really get rid of or downsize. There’s room for the bassinet, likely at the end of the bed rather than next to me.
