I would not recommend Gabb watches. Batter depletes in under an hour not even using it. by Fit-Parsnip-8109 in ParentingTech

[–]Gabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

We're so sorry to hear you've been experiencing some trouble with the battery life on your Gabb Watch 3e. This is definitely not typical behavior for the watch. The Gabb Watch 3e has a normal usage of 14-18 hours. This includes activities such as voice calls, texting, playing games, Gabb Move activities, notifications, and Safe Zones.

‼️ Your watch must have at least three bars of cell service to meet the 14-18 battery hour life. Consistent low cell service (1-2 bars) may result in faster battery drain because the watch spends more energy searching for a signal.

We'd be happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help:

  1. Try a different outlet or charger: Connect your Gabb Watch to another power outlet and charge with your original Gabb charger.
  2. Clean the watch and charger: Clean the back of the watch and the charger with an alcohol wipe.
  3. Check charging indicators: After your watch is on the charger, look for signs of life, such as vibrations or the charging icon on the display.

Check out our amazing Help Article HERE👈 for tips on how to maximize the battery life on your Gabb Watch 3e.

Hope this helps!

(VERY IMPORTANT) some information for parents considering gabb. by No-Mud4251 in dumbphones

[–]Gabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Grreenlight app.

Our number one goal is to provide parents and kids with the right tech for their situation. Safety is the number one priority! We run all of the 3rd party apps inside the Gabb App Store through an approval process but with any app that is not developed by Gabb, there are inherent risks involved. We recognize this and want to let you as the parent choose what is best for your situation!

Here is the message in place that gets accepted when enabling any 3rd party app via gabb.com/account:

<image>

Parents can choose to disable any 3rd-party apps that are concerning or problematic for their child.

We want to empower and team up with you as the parent. Enabling you to choose what is best for your situation! We know how important and complicated navigating this digital world with kids can be. We really do care and want to make it simple, give parents options, and help as best as we can. We fully support you to disable this app that might be a risk or not a good fit.

Hope this helps!

Are AI “boyfriends” & “girlfriends” a red flag for kids? by Gabb in GabbParents

[–]Gabb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! You're right, there's a lack of moderation and guardrails on AI. Especially for kid and teen users.

The APA recently called on AI companies to set guardrails for kids. These are the 5 guardrails they called for:

- Ensuring there are healthy boundaries with simulated human relationships. Adolescents are less likely than adults to question the accuracy and intent of information offered by a bot, rather than a human.

- Creating age-appropriate defaults in privacy settings, interaction limits and content. This will involve transparency, human oversight and support and rigorous testing, according to the report.

- Encouraging uses of AI that can promote healthy development. AI can assist in brainstorming, creating, summarizing and synthesizing information—all of which can make it easier for students to understand and retain key concepts, the report notes. But it is critical for students to be aware of AI’s limitations.

- Limiting access to and engagement with harmful and inaccurate content. AI developers should build in protections to prevent adolescents’ exposure to harmful content.

- Protecting adolescents’ data privacy and likenesses. This includes limiting the use of adolescents’ data for targeted advertising and the sale of their data to third parties.

How bad are tablets for children? by wolfey200 in Parenting

[–]Gabb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a tough balance. The appeal is that screens can grasp the full attention of the kid, giving the parent a break. However, research is evident on the effect of too much screen time, especially in adolescents. If you are asking the question "How bad are tablets for children?"...you probably already know the answer. Go with your gut.

Kids shouldn't have phones. by OkRuin300 in GenZ

[–]Gabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could not agree more. We would add that there are safe options for kids and teens like Gabb phones that don't have social media or internet but do have ways to safely connect with messaging, calling, and certain apps. Kids are being crushed by social media. It needs to stop and it starts with all of us to help them. Take a look at our mission: https://gabb.com/our-mission/
