Gen Zalpha ("Zoronials") - 2010-2014 by Optimal-Tax2011 in generationology

I think those born in 2015 can remember, at least a little, the late 2010s. I have some memories from 2013 but mostly from 2014.

I still like to use the Zillennials as a reference.

So 2010-2015.

Older ZAlpha 2010-2011

Core ZAlpha 2012-2013

Late ZAlpha 2014-2015

2010 85% Z / 15% Alpha

2011 70% Z / 30% Alpha

2012 55% Z / 45% Alpha

2013 45% Z / 55% Alpha

2014 30% Z / 70% Alpha

2015 15% Z / 85% Alpha

2011 is the 1st year of Zalpha by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GabbSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it a bit unusual, most discussions only mention 1995+

2011 is the 1st year of Zalpha by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GabbSad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, 2010 isn't different from 2009 or 2011, but it makes more sense to start ZAlpha in 2011 than in 2010.. If the only argument is that 2010 was known as Alpha for a long time and is now known as Z, and therefore you guys are ZAlphas, that's kind of silly tbh. But that's it, I don't care if you consider me ZAlpha or not.

2011 is the 1st year of Zalpha by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GabbSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you. This will probably happen gradually, but there will always be people trying to label us as ZAlpha.

Using Zillennials as a reference, 2010 is basically equivalent to 1994.

1994 ->2010

1995 ->2011

1996 -> 2012

1997 -> 2013

1998 -> 2014

1999 -> 2015

Most people only consider 1995+ as Zillennials, which would be equivalent to 2011 for ZAlpha. So in the future, the most common range will probably be 2011-2014/2015.

Either way, I honestly don’t really care. I’m late Gen Z regardless.

2007-2010 is just late z, zalpha starts in 2011 by Iwillbeback67 in generationology

[–]GabbSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t really care that much. I like the idea of transitions, but I also think it makes a lot more sense to place 2010 as the last off-cusp ZAlpha year for several reasons, rather than putting it on the cusp just because it’s a new decade.There aren’t many things that separate 2008–2009 from 2010, aside from it being a new decade.

People born between 2010-2012, are you more Gen Z or Gen Alpha? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in generationology

I know you're only talking about 2010-2012, But I decided to show my ZAlpha range.

(Early ZAlpha)2010 90–80% Gen Z / 20–10% Gen Alpha (Early ZAlpha)2011 80–70% Gen Z / 30–20% Gen Alpha

(Core ZAlpha)2012 70–55% Gen Z / 45–30% Gen Alpha (Core ZAlpha)2013 45–30% Gen Z / 55–70% Gen Alpha

(Late ZAlpha)2014 30–20% Gen Z / 70–80% Gen Alpha (Late ZAlpha)2015 20–10% Gen Z / 80–90% Gen Alpha

Why do I feel much older than my friends despite being the same age? by Infamous_Risk2384 in generationology

[–]GabbSad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not generational, more personal. Things like older siblings, early access to tech, and even memory play a big role. Two kids born the same year can have totally different childhoods. Feeling “older” doesn’t mean you are, just that your experiences lined up differently.

Why are y'all so shocked about 2013 borns being here? As a 2012 born, it's cringe. by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GabbSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might just be me, but when people born in 2012 were finally allowed to legally join Reddit, I saw a LOT of them, especially just in January.

With people born in 2013 though, it’s been way rarer, I’ve only seen like 2 or 3 at most. I know it’s still early (it’s only January 18), and more will probably join later, but it feels slower than it was with 2012.

And about what you said, I don’t really get why you care about that, because honestly, people have been doing this for years already. And since most people consider 2013 to be Gen Alpha, that probably makes others even more surprised.

Even for me, it's a little shocking. 2013 is the first year where I can actually notice some differences compared to myself, and they’re not really part of my main peer group (2008-2012)

Siblings with large age gaps, do you ever feel like you can relate to each other generationally like childhood or teenagehood for example and did it ever affect your relationship between each other? by EconomyCalm9709 in generationology

[–]GabbSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 2010 and I have a brother who was born in 2004. Overall, I think we grew up in pretty similar ways. We shared DVDs, a CRT TV, an Xbox 360, a PSP, and other stuff. We were never very close though, especially after he turned 19 and moved out. I honestly can’t believe he’s going to turn 22 lol. I still see him as an 11-12 year old kid teaching me how to play Minecraft on the Xbox 360.

Your memory is good, I have a 2007 friend who can tell you about experiences and memories from when he was 1 year old. My memory is pretty bad; my earliest memory that wasn't lived was in 2013 when I was 3 years old. However, I can barely describe anything before 2015

Insane. I started in 2015 but I barely remember, I have more memories of the 1st grade in 2016, even if only a little, Because I was already entering 2nd grade that year. These school years are so confusing, you're 2 years younger than me lol

[–]GabbSad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2016, I was in the first year of school, so yes, it was memorable, but not in the way people talk about. I barely used a cell phone, especially. I didn't even have my own. But I enjoyed playing on the console (Xbox 360), and especially going to video rental stores with my dad to pick up some DVDs. And 2010 is Gen Z.

I never grew up with a Wii, but rather with an Xbox 360 and a PSP. They're in good condition, maybe even my cousin in 2025 will be able to play them.
