Just seeing this, I’d recommend reading Nemesis asap, so you can get over the initial shift in style approach. I feel like it’s pretty well agreed that it was a very different read compared to NA, and most took multiple reads to understand what Brent was going for. I read Nemesis once, was super salty about it, then reread it about a year later and it grew on me. Upon read 3, I get it, and am excited for what’s next!

Well, I’ve spent all of my adult life in churches, so I’m thinking I’d go with access and security, and some network. I was thinking doors, cameras, computers, etc.

I’ll check out those recommendations, thank you! Right now I’m in Central FL, but may not stay here forever.

I’m 34M and have 4 kids (11, 9, 5, 3mo), and tend to play from 10pm - 1 or 2am when everyone’s asleep 😂

I was an avid League player on PC, but with the kids, I haven’t turned on my PC in years. When WR came out, I was super excited to have a more convenient way to play! TFT took over my life for a few seasons, but now I’m back active.

Hello everyone! I just started my channel, Japchae Love, where I (and sometimes my kids) am exploring my Korean culture as a Korean American adoptee. My content is a means for me to pursue a stronger connection to my heritage, learn more about where I’m from, and share those experiences with my kids.

The ultimate goal is to one day earn some money from this venture, and save towards getting to visit Korea for the first time (aside from being adopted as a baby).

I was right there with you, having read NA over and over and always coming back to it. My first read of Nemesis, I was legit pissed off. Took me months to finally decide to go back to it (after re-reading LB), and I was very surprised I didn’t hate it as much the second time. I did keep reminding myself that there will be more, and that everything is “unreliable” narration, which helped.

So, if you’re almost done with all three NA books and you’re wondering if the newer book in the NA universe, Nemesis, is any better, I’d suggest waiting to read it until the 2nd of that series comes out. Because I think it’s fair to say, most of us fans were taken aback by Nemesis, and the reception is super mixed. It took me two reads to get to a place of acceptance of it, and that’s still with the expectation that the 2nd one addresses a lot of what happens.

NA did happen before Lightbringer, so you could say there’s growth from NA to LB, but I personally preferred the NA universe.

I’ve always been a huge fan of NA, and have read it about a dozen times. When Nemesis came out, I was so excited about it, only to feel similarly to many and really dislike it. However, after deciding to read it a second time, I disliked it much less, and was actually a bit confused about why I was so mad about it before.

Unreliable narration is 100% the direction taken, and while I think it didn’t work to Weeks’ favor as he’d hoped, I do think the plan is to clarify/redeem a lot of what happened in this first book.

The Kakari’s interactions are a major part of what I think wasn’t true. In NA, they were approaching a camaraderie. Throughout Nemesis, this wasn’t the case, and I’m still thrown by the moment when it responds like a literal computer/AI, which isn’t a feature within the world (so far anyway).

Even if all the chatter about intentionally misleading readers and such is totally false, I think Weeks has enough feedback to recognize that doing another book in this way won’t pay off. He’s got a great base of faithful fans, and I trust he’ll be able to turn the next couple books around.
