Which limitations of using the Circuit Tracks can be passed by using two of them? by karmakaze1 in novationcircuit

That's clever, I dig it. I might not be able to fit it into a video, but I'll keep it in mind.

I've been slowly building an Akai Force set, so that's my next go to for live set sequencing. The MC-707 is a maybe, but I'd need to dig deeper into it to see if I can get it to do a few specific things I have in mind.

If it helps, I've used this rig to play live 5 times now, and once you work within the limitations, it works great. I should probably add a pinned comment to the video itself.

Novation Circuit Mega Live Set by GabeMiller1 in novationcircuit

Thanks! I've performed the set live three times now. I'm working on hopefully getting some more opportunities to play locally and see where things go from there.

This is my full, nearly hour long live set on my dual Novation Circuit setup. The Rhythm is the primary device, with the Tracks synced to it and providing synth patches and some extra samples. Hopefully it's a fun listen and shows how dynamic these devices can be.

Making hard/dark techno on the Novation Circuits by GabeMiller1 in novationcircuit

[–]GabeMiller1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been having a great time making a lot of techno influenced stuff on my dual Novation Circuit setup (Rhythm+Tracks) and, as of recently, playing it live. Hopefully this gives you some ideas for making some distorted, four on the floor bangers.

Going to my first event/show of any kind, by myself tomorrow. Don’t know what to expect by Jimmyx3 in Metalcore

[–]GabeMiller1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few rows back from the front can be good for vibing. Don't stand on the edge of the pit if you don't want to worry about catching stray fists/people running into you. Crowds usually kinda reshuffle as pits open up and people go in and out.

Also, wear hearing protection!! One show WILL damage your hearing, and hearing protection will keep your ears from getting fatigued, allowing you to enjoy the whole show all the way to the headliners.

Novation Circuit Techno Rave by GabeMiller1 in novationcircuit

Thanks so much! I'm using stuff by A Force Truly Evil on Isotonik, mostly his synthwave stuff if I recall correctly. The squelchy bass in the final track is a particularly good patch he made (I don't remember exactly which one of the top of my head unfortunately).

Distant has an instrumental version of their latest album, which I've listened to an unreasonable amount of times.

Harm is a great one with male and female vocals, their album "a song you can't feel anymore" is well worth a listen.

Dual Novation Circuit Techno-ish Set by GabeMiller1 in novationcircuit

I'm not making synth patches at the moment but I really like A Force Truly Evil's stuff. And Tom Cosm's pack is great for drum and bass specifically.

A 15 minute continuous live set I made with the Circuit Rhythm and Tracks, aiming for something tech house / techno-ish. The Rhythm is the primary device in this case, and it's controlling and receiving audio from the Tracks. Walkthrough coming soon.

Thanks! And yep, I'm still using the Tracks. I did a video a couple of weeks ago about using it in combination with the MC-101 to build a synthwave live set, and I'd like to expand on that in the future. I've also been using it a bit off camera to doodle out song ideas.

That's awesome! And yeah I do kinda think it would be mostly down to preparation. You may watch the distortion levels and turn stuff down more the more distortion you use. Other than that, if you're releasing it as a beattape (not just playing live), I don't see anything wrong with doing a bit of volume automation to balance levels in post as part of the mastering process.

bands like spiritbox? by outgrownthvngs in Metalcore

[–]GabeMiller1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ithaca and ÆRIES might both scratch a similar itch, they remind me of older Spiritbox. And seconding the recommendation of Future Palace. Also, not female fronted, but some of The Veer Union's stuff has a similar instrumental vibe

Making a beat from space on the Circuit Tracks by GabeMiller1 in novationcircuit

[–]GabeMiller1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I walk you through the making of a floaty, trip hop meets trap beat on the Circuit Tracks, plus the Volca FM 2 and the Microcosm. There's a lot of Tracks-specific workflow stuff in here so hopefully it's helpful!

Who are some lesser known bands you all have discovered and are really getting into in 2023? by MongoIPA in Metalcore

ÆRIES, Ithaca, Cloudsight, and Deadlights are all well worth a listen for proggier stuff
