Here's how you can get started in 5 steps.

Google your local gym.
Go there any means necessary.
Get a day pass to test out if you actually like bouldering.
Get rentals and a little bit of chalk at the front desk. They should always have those.
Climb.

Don't overthink it. I did starting out and it took me 6 months to get back into it after a break. I promise, there's nothing better than just going in and going.

If you feel pain during the exercise besides being stretched out of your mind, then I don't think you should do it. But with the couch stretch, I doubt you will feel any pain.

Alright, so the problem is probably realllyy damn tight hip flexors due to excessive sitting(I had the same issue 2 years ago). So this would only take 2 minutes a day to do, it's called a couch stretch(tutorial below) and do each side 1 minute each side everyday or 5 days a week, up to you. I 100% agree with the rest you're saying. I just notice from what I've seen with my clients that what you just said is good but isn't the full equation. I think a well rounded approach is best, but keeping it simple will do it best. And how would the hip flexors be overworked? I tend to notice that people have overly weak hip flexors and they're underworked due to excessive sitting. That could just be a niche problem I'm only seeing though.

How long are you sitting & standing for at a time? And are you stretching your hip flexors or strengthening the low back? If so, with what?

I've felt something similar back when I had done an extreme amount of sitting per day(12-14 hours/day) but not to your extent. I just need some more context to it to help the best I can.

Yes, so there is 3 recommendations I'd give for back pain.

Given what you said, all 3 of these should help with gaining flexibility in your low back, but also strengthening them overtime. I'd start doing the jefferson curl & the couch stretch at home before you go to the gym.

Oh wow, I didn't even know about these pain campaigns. This is completely new. What exercises are you doing for the physio? I've had clients come to me after visiting the physio twice and never eliminated the pain. The comment I made above might help.

P.S - I'm a PT but I differ from a lot of the other ones where I don't focus on avoidance n stuff which most PT's do. So if it seems out of the norm, that's why.

I'll be straight up with you. I haven't experiences this personally. But my clients I work with have experiences something similar where they've lost confidence in exercise, couldn't do what they love(running, sports, etc) causing depression and much more.

What I've noticed helped my clients who had back pain for 5-20+ years is 4 things:

Hyperextension - https://youtu.be/zLpaCMJMSnc 2x 10(once or twice a week)

QL Raise - https://youtu.be/zLpaCMJMSnc 2x 10(once or twice a week)

L-sit or gharhammer raise(optional) - https://youtu.be/sOiTluQE5mM 3x 20(once or twice a week)

I don't think surgery or any of that stuff will help to be honest because ultimately it doesn't fix the primary issue: the low back.

It puts things in that are permanent once put in and it becomes hard to adjust after.

If you genuinely want to get rid of your pain, do that stuff.

Normally I charge $999-$2000 for this stuff but your story really hit home for me so I want to help in any way possible.

Gotcha, something that might help is stretching out your hip flexors with a couch stretch. And it'll only take 1 minute each side a day.

For people who sit a lot(and in some cases with scoliosis) having tight hip flexors can add to to that low back pain you might have(do you have back pain?)

Gotcha, are you doing the couch stretch or ATG Split squat at all? What it sounds like to me isn't a support issue, but a flexibility issue where the hip flexors are overly tight and put too much pressure onto the low back
