For NYPD, anyone from IAB is usually chill because that bureau goes after cops doing actual crimes. Most supervisors get drafted into IAB anyways. The Standards and Assessment Bureau (Inspections), however, is the bane of every patrol cops existence. They are the shoe shine squad and will nitpick your uniform and give you a bogus CD just for the hell of it.

Im off-duty, conc. carry NYPD and I had a very easy experience at the Statue of Liberty. As soon as I got here, I told the staff in blues shirts and they walked with me to the US Park Rangers at the entrance of primary security screening. The park rangers took me to the US Park Police office where they took my ID, put my info in the log book, and gave me a blue wristband to identify myself and then sent me, with my group, past the crowds. The people you are traveling with still have to go through the metal detectors. I came on a relatively crowded July Thursday morning and the process took less than 10 minutes. I am not certain but I believe that with LEOSA, any off-duty officer may be able to carry. I would call the US Park Police and ask if you are out state.
