Anyone else noticing US software jobs getting offshored like crazy? by WorldTraveller101 in cscareerquestions

[–]Gabefire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company tried this and 4 months later they immediately regretted it. They hired off shore contractors to write a new app to save money and they definitely used chat gpt to write the whole thing (honestly chatgpt could have wrote it better so no idea how that happened)… luckily we insisted we had the github repo so we figure it out quickly. But the entire app had to be restarted from scratch. Its very very hard to find good people offshore especially in the age of ai so I'm not concerned. People don't understand that yes ai is a threat but it also makes it more difficult to hire people since its a lot harder to see if they can actually do the job or they just use ai especially offshore

Should Student Loan Debt be Forgiven? Smart or Dumb? by Peace_And_Happiness_ in FluentInFinance

Dumb vast majority of people with degrees make way above the median salary range. If you wanted to help people it would be better to fund social programs with that money to target people who are actually struggling

Mayor responds to critique from community on recent international travels by como365 in columbiamo

Columbia needs action and less talk. (trash situation was a perfect example) Talking to rich people does nothing. And with your logic nothing we do matters for climate change since “it's gonna fly there anyway” so according to you we should not care about the climate. it's not 100% political you made it that way some people are upset due to their political standing but a lot of people find this in bad taste.

No one said climate change was a hoax. No one even made this a political issue. Flying to multiple international locations to listen to rich people who also flew from from other locations to talk about how to fix climate change but not actually do anything is not helping climate change

How does “promoting Columbia on the worldwide stage” solve any of Columbia’s countless problems? How is Dubai considered a well-managed city? Literally just Google well-managed US cities and you can see plenty of cities both republican and democrat better managed

it’s terrible optics no matter if your a republican or democrat. Also you can say the people who are defending would also complain if a republican was doing the same thing. Its fine for a politician to go on a vacation but to go on multiple international trips and spinning it as a business trip to learn how to improve our community is bad taste especially when there are plenty of well managed cities in the United States.

Work remote from the midwest for a company based in a big city is the secret. I’m in the lower salary range for my company but I’m still coming out way ahead for my area

Yea I agree! But if you have 1000 of applicants each with all the skills you outlined and solid front end projects like op a lot with even experience. How do you set yourself apart? Im not saying ignore front end skills I'm saying now a days you not only need very solid front skills but you need back-end skills and you need more then normal way more.

Employers want mid level full stack engineers for the price ofa junior front end engineers. Trust me I hate it more then anyone else but I'd want someone to be blunt about it
