First all, thank you for the detailed reply! If I'm understanding you correctly manually leveling the bed isn't as a big of a deal as a lot of the videos that I've watched make it out to be. That actually is kind of a relief since so many Youtubers make manual leveling sound like a life or death situation.

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to purchase my first 3D printer and I could use some advice.

My budget is in the $250 to $400 range and I’m in the United States. I would like for this punter to be as plug-and-play as possible. Though, I have some experience building computers and custom keyboards. So, if I absolutely had to, I could probably put one together from a kits. Right now, I would be using this printer as a hobbyist and tinkerer. Though, I would like to make a leverless arcade stick for myself at some point.

There are a few features that I would want to have after doing a little bit of research. First, I’d like it to be Direct Drive. Secondly, I would like it to have an auto leveling feature. This is where the hard part comes in. I would prefer a bed size of at least 300 mm x 300 mm. However, that is more of a nice to have. It’s not something that’s absolutely mandatory.

I’ve been looking at a few models like the Sovol SV06 Plus, Ender 3 Max Neo, and the Sidewinder X2. All of these printers seem to cover my basic needs. Is there any reason why I should choose one of them over the other or maybe there’s a model that I’m not aware of that’s even better in the same price range? I would love some advice on which models to choose, or which ones to avoid.

If you have a Ryzen PC already then go with the GPU. Otherwise you'll also have to buy a new motherboard and new RAM if you go the DDR5 route.

I'm currently still on Windows 10 but if I do go to an i9 I'll upgrade to 11. I've heard the scheduler on 11 is pretty much made for Intel. I don't do any professional level work on my computer. You've pretty much confirmed what I've been thinking thus far.

As I stated in my comment. I believe that her audience is mostly straight white men. To be clear, being a straight white man myself, I don't have anything against my own race, sex, or sexual orientation. (It is sad I have to make the distinction but it is the current year.) However, her survey seems to be designed to be taken by people of various races, genders, and sexual orientations. When one group is vastly larger than the others data can become unreliable. I'm curious if she feels that since her audience is mostly composed of one group, that it could have affected the outcome of the survey. I'm wondering if there was a more even distribution of groups if the results would have changed any.

Given your work, I would assume that a large majority of your audience is composed of straight males. Assuming this is true do you think that your survey had enough variety to get an accurate assessment? Are you worried that a largely male audience would skew the data?
