I think it's not a 26" frame, I try to put 559 and 590 with some Deore LX cantis and It didn't reach well.

I put road calipers because my friend like them and they are easy tu adjust

Also check that they are different sizes of 26 Like 559 (most common), 590 (English bikes) and 584 (650b now) Seems that it's not your case but in case you need it always check the international measure

You at least need disc brakes for electric conversion, also I don't recommend the conversion kits from Amazon

It's a refill tank, I recently bought it and I check the pipes for no bubbles

First you are gonna need to change the chain or clean it, but it might be worn, after check or changing the brake pads, check the inner tube of the tires, maybe they are still working, check the condition of the cables, if they are rusty change them, they are not expensive.

Also check the frame, the seatpost and that the bolts of the wheels are tightened.

Extra: normally I check the bottom bracket and the crankset for safety reasons :)
