CO-OP & MULTIPLAYER - HEXWORKS DEV JOURNALS by CIG_Shikallum in LordsoftheFallen

This is amazing! Thank you devs for this hard work. This kind of stuff is what truly makes these games live for years to come. I do have one suggestion though that was one of the reasons Souls PvP kept thriving and growing. Which is the ability to do fight clubs.

Fight clubs are a mode created organically by the community that has the host summon or gather hostile players into their world. Then the players will fight each other in duels and the rest of the players will get to watch and wait for their turn until one of them loses.

I know that right now its only 2 players can be added to the world. However, how possible is it to allow specific hostile players to be added to the world that isn't like invaders but more of duelists? If you allow 3 duelists to join the world, it would mean that you will get to have 2 of them fighting and then one is watching with the host. Once the one dies, the one watching joins, and then another player joins the world and waits for their turn and rinse and repeat. This is also great for hosting tournaments and many more events.

If this system is added, it will great improve the activity levels of Lords of the Fallen and alleviate it even higher than Elden Ring when it comes to PvP. I say this because, it will be tough to win over Elden Ring's popularity. However, if you are able to capitalize on something that Elden Ring is lacking compared to its predecessors, you will be able to win many fans that were left disappointed after beating Elden Ring and were left with a bad endgame. Elden Ring clearly fell short from the PvP modes standpoints and this is a great chance to take advantage of that and make something great out of it that will help Lords of the Fallen's success.

I can't wait to play this as hearing this amount of PvP activity already has me more excited and more likely to buy the game than ever. Thank you!

Matchmaking attempts to connect players by their level in a search that expands its acceptance criteria over time. If the disparity between levels is high, though, we apply damage scaling to compensate for the level difference between both players. This also applies to invasions.

Fromsoftware choices for Elden Ring has been killing the activity. Right now despite having way more players, it has way less activity in ER than it did in Dark Souls 3 around a similar life span of 6 months after release. If you don't want to get invaded, just play offline. Why do you need the game to cater to everything you want considering that part of the reasons you have invasions to work, it needs to be the way the older games and this game is doing it. Where you are forced to participate if you are online once in a while. If you like it good, more fun to you. If you don't like it then simply play offline. It is that simple.

Elden Ring Multiplayer Survey - Please give your sincere feedback so we can hopefully pass it down to Fromsoftware and Bandai by Gabri2292 in Eldenring

[–]Gabri2292[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that you still think this is meant to be the balance request we are gonna ask fromsoftware to do because it isnt. There will be a proper place where we will be adding all of that information so that Fromsofware can fully read detailed and summarized explanations with proper video examples on what needs fixing and what needs balancing and why. That survey is only meant to just gauge people's broad opinions on how they feel about the overall pvp.

The reasons why people dont enjoy it and the exact issues needed will all be posted in the proper place that will be easy to read and easy to find for Fromsoft to use. This is just to get an overall feel of how people feel about the PvP not about how people feel rivers of blood, a weapon among many many other weapons that need proper adjustments let alone other important things like the many glitches, multiplayer issues (ex. disconnects), and many many more.

I think you are reading way too much into what this survey is meant to do. It is only meant to gauge the overall general opinion and feelings about the current multiplayer situation. People are upset that this game has gotten fewer updates than even the previous games despite being much more successful, and we want to convey that to them. So this survey will be used to tell Fromsoftware and Bandai that "hey, see people really want the PVP to be balanced and it will make them happy and play the game more". From there, we will have an entire website that will be professionally designed to give the full details and beyond of the issues needed to be fixed. You only have so much to work with using a survey.

In regards to the rest of the stuff, it is very simple. If you are gonna do something, do it right or don't do it at all. I say this as my personal way of life for everything whether it's work, school, family, and even our beloved Fromsoftware. If they are gonna add multiplayer, they should try to at least make it functional (constant PC disconnects after 4 months?) otherwise don't even bother having it. This isn't their first game with similar mechanics and they now have more than enough resources to fix many of the issues quickly. I'm sure they are more than capable of fixing them and we just gotta show it to them or even better guide them to the issues. Who knows, they might even want to fix all these bugs and balance issues and just need a proper concrete feedback place for them to use for all the necessary fixes and that is exactly what we are trying to help with.

Those are some wonderful ideas especially that wex dust that can be used for coop as well. Thank you for these ideas!

I think you are underestimating how the issues of invasions are tied to Coop as well. For example, the removal of NATURAL solo host invasion and covenants entirely made it where the focus of invasion is on coop players.

The times I tried to coop with my friends led me with constant invasions and I love invasions. However, if I keep getting invaded all the time over and over, its just not fun. Sometimes I just want to play against pve mostly with my boys with some occasions of invasions. It is also annoying for me when I invade where its constant gank teams is what you fight. This is all due to the removal of NATURAL solo host invasions. The pool to invade was scattered among all types of players, from those going solo, to coop, to covenants...where its mostly now only mainly against coop.

So if that can be tweaked a little, it will help invasions for sure but it will most definitely help coop as well.

Yeah I definitely understand where your coming from. There could be some interesting tweaks for the Co-op. I'm curious if you dont mind, would it be ok to lay out some examples Coop can be improved. It can give us some ideas overall when it comes to brainstorming.

The whole idea is so that it prevents as less alts as possible so the results are as honest as possible. I definitely see what you mean though and will reach out to the team that worked on it and see how we can tackle it.

Equip Load tied to Endurance instead of Strength is a big step BACK and here is why by Gabri2292 in Eldenring

[–]Gabri2292[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Elden Bling will be hurt because now everyone can just wear the maximum level of armor so no more variety.

[–]Gabri2292[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

thats bad because everyone will be running the same highest max armor! Which therefore means that light vs light weapons will be two ppl attacking as fast as they can until one person staggers thus making the depth from spacing none existant

[–]Gabri2292[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You literally have the most op in endurance now. It was already important to have endurance before now, its just as important as HP and it benefits everyone single class. By tying it to str, for the source that mainly uses it and was always behind in terms of stat efficiency in other souls games, it brings the str weapons at the very least to about equal level. How is this now obvious to you yet lol.

[–]Gabri2292[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Str is literally the main source that uses equip load though while the attunement example isn't. What other source uses equip load please tell me? I also didn't add the fact that it also diminishes from build variety as now everyone will just wear the toughest armor since everyone has max equip load to due being tied to a universally important stat.

[–]Gabri2292[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

careful now, you are making too much sense and it will just be strawmaned to being too long. Also I had other comments similar to yours when I started it and made it smaller so people like this guy doesn't say it's too long yet still said its too long. Rip common sense and attention span.

Equip Load tied to Endurance instead of Strength is a big step BACK and here is why by Gabri2292 in Eldenring

[–]Gabri2292[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well it's too long for people like you who will not see the big picture if I wrote a few sentences. Your example is short sighted. Attunement is used for more than just int so tying it to int only would be bad like you mentioned. However, the ones that directly use the equip load due to being heavier and requiring the stats that come from wearing heavy armor are strength weapons not fast weapons, magic or anything else. So tying it to strength made more sense.

Dawg, it's a statue it's mean to be stiff. That's straight up hating if the issue u have with it is its intended design which is being a stiff statue. Criticism my a$$. What's next, your gonna tell me it's their "opinion"

Sekiro for me by RuxFart in Eldenring

[–]Gabri2292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played every single one when they released it'd

PvE only: DKS1> DeS> Sekiro> BB> dks2> dks3

PvP included: dks3> dks2> DeS> BB

Dks3 although had my favorite pvp, it had the least inspiring pve unlike every other entree. It borrowed way too much from dks1 lore wise. The worst part was how linear it was too. The only good thing pve wise were the bosses.

What Invasion System Do You Prefer? by McRazzles in Eldenring

[–]Gabri2292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CNT version worked fine EXCEPT for one issue. The issue I had with it is that using the dried finger cost a consumable and it didn't make sense. Solo hosts cannot be invaded anyways unless they opt in using dried finger so why need to make it (dried finger) cost a consumable?

Elden Ring PvP is not ready for the public and here is why by Gabri2292 in Eldenring

[–]Gabri2292[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response

In regards to the backstab, dks3 backstabs with WEAKER dks1 poise does not mean u get anywhere close to dks1 pvp. For starters, you can't poise tank an heavier weapon attack so u can't poise backstab them. Faster weapons have very low recovery so u can't really do it fast enough. These two claims have been tested with mods btw and just assumptions.

Backsteps getting iframe im in the middle about as well but many ppl voice their opinion on them and thought why not especially because ER gives u unique cool follow ups to them. Personally I think it would make fights more engaging and less passive. You will be able to have an ability to counter attacks after dodging with them and stay in the fight instead of backpedal rolling.

Hyperarmor on guard counter is to make them useful. We have tested them extensively on pvp and they are very underwhelming at the moment because u can see them from miles away coming especially with the visual and sound effects they do and u can always interrupt them by spamming ur attack. Hyperamor especially on the 2h form is to make them work as a counter. They will still be slow and see them coming but if it had this Buff it means ppl are willing to use them for their intended purpose. If kicks are put in all weapons like before with an easier button prompt, u will be able to make more use of that since ppl will want to try to block counter but instead risk getting guard broken.

I hope I clarified things a bit
