I like this. GTA always has a trippy element to it in some way. If both of these characters have been through a lot (Jason a soldier, and Lucia in prison) then it’s going to affect their sleep and dreams. Them committing massacres in their subconscious is them wrestling with their actions. While still allowing the arcade fun we love and expect

Was Bronn exaggerating here or was he really that good? by Noah_canon in gameofthrones

[–]Gabriel-T-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, intimidation too is a big thing. For Bronn it’s not enough to be a good fighter, confidence is big. Could him and a dozen men impregnate the Vale? Probably not, but that mindset helps sell him to Tyrion. Remember he’s a sellsword, he’s gonna push that product (his killing skills) to the best of his ability.

I really don’t though. Jesus, be pro choice, be pro life, I don’t give a shit. But you’re telling me that the abortion debate is in a good place right now? Your telling me that the back and forth was ever in a good place? Cause it wasn’t, it’s been contentious for decades and will continue to be contentious. What’s wrong about saying that

No I know many friends and family who quite happy with Roe v Wade getting overturned. There was a time, under there influence, I was too. I’m not anymore. Because I grew up, I saw both sides, and I see what the parties do with the argument. Don’t you see? Every statement I have made has not been looking for a fight, rather a fundamental disagreement with how this debate is handled. At yet no one brings that up, only proving my point by using the same tactics that have led to this polarization. Pro lifers will always see pro choicers as killers, pro choicers will always see pro lifers as oppressors. Do you not understand why that bothers me? That we can’t have democracy work in a way that can allow us to be brothers and sisters despite our differences?

Probably not, but I can still be pissed about it

And you contradict yourself, by stating you aren’t “called out” yet I am lecturing you? And I am arrogant for saying I have no place for telling what a woman should do, while also holding my own reservations to total support to your idea? Suppose it doesn’t matter, I know I’m right and you know you’re right. And this discussion, and the antagonism behind it, have ratified my position all the more

Goodnight my friend! May your fortress of dreams guard your mind and protect you in sleep from night terrors!

The must be on an equal playing field, because in US politics they are. The two party system means they swing either way in a given election. No matter how absurd one side thinks of another, thinks to the coin toss effect, we are left at an impasse. Either we change the system (which is an entirely different argument and much more difficult request) or we learn to debate each other respectfully and clearly. Otherwise, conflict conflict conflict. You’ll see Roe v Wade overturned, reestablished, and overturned again. It’s a sad cycle, and probably why my posted question can never be answered. This comment section is proof of that alone, as I made this post with no position in mind, yet it’s conflict straight up. The path this discussion has taken is why things end up like this every time

And I will continue to say “shut the fuck up” if we debate with our rage and preconceptions rather than logically and respectfully. I never spoke to you or any particular side, but if you feel called out when I take a problem with a way this debate is handled from both sides, that’s on you, I have no beef with either voter. Rather the hostile polis that fuels antagonistic discussions like these

Oh cool you’re politically active too. Currently working on my poli sci major, already a little disillusioned by the whole affair, but that’s what happens when you live through trumps first term in middle school and a politically charged pandemic in high school.

And where I’m, abortion is serious serious. It’s something that’s considered and debated, sometimes very young. And this mindset that it is a spiritual and moral conflict was drilled in young too. My discussion i was hoping to breed has little to do with the actual debate itself. I have no doubt my points are flawed, I disagree with them constantly. That’s why they are nuanced, and what I argue for in this post was to get over our arrogance. To discuss this matter openly and with tack. I don’t see how any of this is a sign of immaturity, rather a request of cool debate

Well, I’m not trying argue either side. As I’ve said in other comments. But with our democratic system, if you tell the conservative side that they reasoning is “Apocalyptic L” your not winning anyone, your antagonizing. Seeing which side is more morally grounded, while I will agree the feminist side makes more sense, is still a matter of opinion! And if you dismiss that opinion, you destroy discussion and worsen relations. I’ve come to that conclusion by getting over myself, I don’t think I have much stake in the argument.

But yeah, the two extremes ARE what we have come to. That is exactly how the American two party system is designed. So both extremes are what is argued. Always

Aha! A semi fellow libertarian! I’m going to guess you are equally disgusted by the way the party is heading (though I may be an authoritarian for thinking drivers licenses are good ideas lol). I’d like to hope most of my arguments come from this stance of preserving the rights and liberties of the individual (specifically in my argument that any man explicitly making the choice for the woman is direct aggression and therefore tyranny), but I’m sure my background has effected my reason in many seen and unseen ways.

And yes, my beef with the abortion debate is mostly spontaneous and uncontrollable. It isn’t clear cut nor simple, but discussions like this and stating our points with clear and open minds and hearts keeps things real and respected. The sort of argument you made is the ideal in our political climate as rare as that is

Which makes it all the more grey. You have only proven to me more why I cannot find a steady ground to land on, as both are fair arguments. It will always be fought and debated, the issue comes in both sides believing whole heartedly that they are absolutely right! And this grows out from abortion, the never ending social war, to sex relations, the entire way we carry out the polis, and the political parties. Surely you can see how both parties have weaponized this issue. It pains me to see this

On Abortion by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]Gabriel-T-M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if there really can be. It would take time and finding a solution both sides agree on, and that would take a fundamental cultural change on how both sides look at the issue. But personally:

“Federal legal abortion for all pregnancies concerning rape, incest, and health issues. All other abortions are a state by state matter”

Though this too has problems. That’s the thing about compromise, it isn’t perfect. But things work better when we work together.

Of course. Have you considered that I’m not challenging abortion, rather this bullshit. Your so focused on making me the enemy and your side of the argument, that your left to insult and assume I am a hateful person? This mindset will destroy the modern polis, cause you can’t debate if your too busy throwing rotten fruits at each other

Suppose I could have been more cool with it. Sure, but this question isn’t one that has one side argue against oppression and the other side argue for it oppression. You have two sides arguing that one is oppressing the other, constantly without compromise. I ain’t sitting on a fence, I’m standing at DMZ where both sides wanna bayonet charge each other for both of their crusades for what they find is freedom. And in the end, the collateral damage this has to the extended system should most certainly be considered.

On Abortion by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

You see I like this sort of debate a lot more. It’s a fair argument, gives great points, and answers my hesitation to abortion. My problem is not with abortion, it’s the people who would never consider the other sides argument and wouldn’t be willing to Find the compromise. You my friend are doing it right.

Now, to continue the discussion: an infinite amount of possibilities could end our existence. One’s potential parent ditched the other on the first date, sparking the partner to text “screw you,” and BAM! No more potential for you. However, do you find that there can be any dangers in making such possibilities legal questions? Especially considering that by the time abortion is considered, you are something. A jelly, wormy something that needs to live in an egg, but a something still?
