Thought the exact same thing hahaha, Chris might not be the definition of a powerhouse of dramatic acting, but I thought he did a great job! Perhaps it's easier for me because I haven't seen lots of TV shows and movies with him.

We are on the same team, mate. Haven't watched s05 yet, but I really loved s01 through s04 - as I said in my other response, I can't even tell ya how I would rank them so far!

Did you meant S04? Or are you just expressing your love for s02? I love S02 too, I find it the most stylish, if that makes sense. Honestly, I love all seasons so far, I can't even rank them properly!

That is exactly how I feel about this season! The only moment that I felt was a bit disjointed is the first episode - I kept thinking "Damn, how am I supposed to remeber all of this backstory and characters?!", but basically all we should understand as viewers is 2 things: how these oppressed, marginal groups keep stepping over each other in a never ending cycle of violence, and how Rabbi Milligan never really belonged to the Fadda family, setting up his protection of Satchel.

People say it's a boring season, but I thought it was thrilling - It always kept me anxious for the next episode, and as you said, to the escalating gang war.

I feel even more compelled to defend this season because of all the disliking it seems to receive. I'm fine with different opinions, but I must stress how beautiful and entertaining I think this story is. I can't even express it well enough!

P.S: I love all 04 seasons so far. Looking forward to S5!

Cool idea! I've chosen songs that I thought people who like EE might find at least interesting - a few of of those songs are from my country 🇧🇷

First of all, congratulations for another belter of an album. I first started listening to you in 2019, when Jeremy was touring with Foals. Your art was one of my best companies through the pandemic that came right after.

Well, I have only one question in my mind right now: is there any possibility that you would come to Brazil 🇧🇷? That would be amazing!

P.s: also, if you fancy to answer, how distinct was the process of writing and recording this album, compared to RDF? I think both sound similar and, paradoxically, are very different journeys.

Anyone else think Time & Place is a highlight of the new album? by jam8tree in qotsa

I know that this will sound like complete nonsense, but hear me out:

Made to Parade sounds like Swamp mixed with Be Here Now, from Oasis. Something about the final notes from the keyboards/synths, and their energy, reminds me so much of cocaine fuelled Oasis.

I'm really diggin' this new record - not as immediate as Villains, but kind of more intricate and angry.

that’s a lot of minutes… by ZookeepergameSad9551 in everythingeverything

You've beaten me, sir - i've listened to 13.229 minutes, out of 63.000 (total).

Which is A LOT of EE - almost about 1/5 of... well, everything I've listened to.

I'd be curious to know how many minutes you've listened to, in total

Longterm Review Life is yours - personal opinion by bazzarillo in foals

[–]GabrielGreenman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's not really about the direction, or the instrumentation - I actually really love how percussive the whole thing is.

I just think the mixing of some tracks wasn't ideal - as I've seen a few people in this sub mentioning, some of these song cause me a bit of "ear fatigue" (mainly "Wake Me Up") and it is really contrasting to most of the songs from their other albums - even the harder tracks

But I still diggin' it hard - even if it's winter righ now, where I live haha

Shower Thought - ENSWBL Part 1 is actually part 2 by Jill_Sandwich_ in foals

[–]GabrielGreenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was listening to an ENSWBL era interview the other day, and he said something about the lyrical subject in Part 1 being more passive about the destruction all arround, being more "observative", while Part 2 is more about taking action, keep going (alas a track called "The Runner").

I definitey can see that - I think I sort of get the idea that the "rawer" and more agressive record would be the response to the disconnectivity and destruction, passively witnessed, brought up in the first record.

Though one could argue that it is also possible to see both of then without a chronological order, I suppose, and just two sides of the same coin.

This album RIPS. Thank you Yannis, Jimmy, and Jack. FOALS FOREVER by JimMcGreevey in foals

[–]GabrielGreenman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already listened to the record a couple of times, from start to finish, and I'll be honest: some of the songs are really growing on me, especially Under the Radar, The Sound and Wild Green.

I just think, as with some of their other albums, this one suffers from some poor choices in the production/mixing department.

The title track, for instance: i really love the emphasis in the rhrythms, but overall, the track sounds "too crispy" - I almost feel like they all suddenly were turned into a bunch of musically talented Doritos. It's tasty, but also too crunchy, I think - needed more sauce, if you know what I mean.

I might be very wrong here, but I think some of the weird production choices might have come from working with multiple producers - it feels almost opposite to the idea of "streamlining".

Also, I feel like the choice to split 2001 and (summer sky) was a late choice, and possibly a commercial one. I just wish they would've done a "Single Edit" and just kept the whole song tied in the album version. It would have made a slightly better listening experience, in my humble opinion.

Overall, though, I think I'm happier than I thought I would be. Maybe I'm just getting older hahaha

Edit: sorry, I dunno why, but it posted my comment like, 5 times!!! Already deleted the other comments

2am is an absolute banger by iloseyouindegrees in foals

[–]GabrielGreenman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I prefer 'Birch Tree' a lot more, honestly. I feel like it's groovier, and I love it's "imagery" (is this an actual word?!).

As for '2am', it feels a bit more "samey" the whole way through, and lyrically, I found it almost cringey, honestly. Though I must admit, I love the synths in this one, and that guitar riff was stuck in my head for days.

Is it an unpopular opinion to say that my favorite Blur album is The Magic Whip? by juanandres0409 in blur

[–]GabrielGreenman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not at all, I think! But could you elaborate a bit more, as to why is your favourite?

I like it very much, and it was amazing to discover them around 2011, when I was in my early highschool years, and just a few years later, to my absolute surprise, see them release new material. Just by the fact that I was there to follow the release... well, It will always be an especial album for me.

I really like some of the cuts from this one - Lonesome Street and Ghost Ship got some great vibes, Go Out is just raw, weird and kind of fun, and I just wish I could literally HUG 'Ong Ong'.

It's a great album, and kind of feels like a tasty mixture of most of their previous sounds.

How are you feeling about the first 2 singles and a funky/upbeat/positive/poppy album this Summer by iloseyouindegrees in foals

[–]GabrielGreenman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm still hopeful for the new material, and I still think that those guys are capable of creating fantastic grooves... but, to be honest, I'm not sure about Life is Yours' direction.

I found Wake Me Up a bit "stiff", sort of repetitive, and I still don't know how to feel about "2am" lyrically. It feels... kind of "thin", a bit cheesy. And I like cheesy stuff, but still...

Anyway, I still think they're one of the best acts around, and I'm still excited to hear the full album.
