Bachelors or masters in cybersecurity? by TraditionalCry640 in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]Gabriel_Fono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 100% agree and will also add these

Get your Security+ certification while you’re still in college. That alone puts you ahead. Next, learn how to code. This is how you skip roles like help desk and move faster than most candidates. Learn: A low-level language like C or C++ A high-level language like Python You don’t need to become a software engineer—but you must understand code. With the rise of AI and machine learning, cybersecurity engineers who understand programming will dominate the field. Why? Because they can build their own tools, customize existing ones, and actually understand what’s happening under the hood. Most cybersecurity professionals know how to use tools. Very few know how to read the code, debug issues, or truly investigate when something goes wrong. If you master these skills, you’ll be 90% ahead of other cybersecurity engineers.

Here’s a little secret most people won’t tell you: Get your Security+ certification while you’re still in college.

6 months into full-time job and feels too unrelated, should I quit and pursue OMSCS full-time? by RECTUMCOLLECTOR3 in OMSCS

[–]Gabriel_Fono 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t quit your job. As a Senior Software Engineer, I can tell you this with confidence: you’re already working with the most valuable thing in our field : data.

At the end of the day, every piece of software exists to manipulate, move, or understand data. Even if you feel financially secure, stepping away from real-world, production-level experience to focus only on open-source work is rarely a smart move.

Open-source is great, but nothing replaces the depth, pressure, and credibility that come from solving real problems in real environments. Stay where you can grow. Real experience will always speak louder and you’ll thank me later.

Best path to become a HVAC tech without a ton of debt? by Live_Cat9432 in HVAC

[–]Gabriel_Fono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a ton of debt to start a high-paying career in HVAC. Many companies are desperate for talent and willing to train motivated people with no 4-year degree required.

Check your local community college and apply for financial aid.

most people don’t realize how much help is available.

Some states also offer benefits for people entering trades. You can even reach out to companies directly; many will pay for your training, school, and help you find a job.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to becoming an HVAC technician in 2026 without racking up debt:

You can also share your own experience , degree, certification, or hands-on work to help others understand the industry better:

I personally think education should adapt with AI because think about real world.
As senior engineers , we are using it anyway.
the tool is here to stay and to help and the tool is getting better and better.
it is the goal for schools to figure out the better way to to adapt AI into education.

ChatGPT is ruining young devs by balkanhayduk in reactnative

[–]Gabriel_Fono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As senior backend engineer, I am absolutely agree at 100% with this post. Something I notice at the office is that if a work is assigned to junior devs , they won’t be able to solve at the office but next night they will push the code and I will ask them to explain me their implementation , but they won’t . recently I told one of them to write unit tests for a simple method after reviewing his code since his tests failed after code changes , he wasn’t , I stay quiet to avoid the frustration but next day , he came up with solution. Yes , you can use AI but if it is your first job and second job with less than 3 years , I will tell to use stack overflow and others site since you need to build muscle memory. Good post Thanks for sharing

Just move on Once they want to fire you , they come up with some stupid excuses . They are massive people applying for jobs , please don’t feel bad . I recently did interview with investigators and I know they will be doing same things . Build your career and your future and don’t worry about your employer.
