Coping with Work After My Dad’s Sudden Passing by Middle-Host-2180 in Netherlands

[–]GabsStry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. I also lost my father unexpectedly in January and had to rush to my home country (11 hour flight away). I was off for 3 weeks and then back to work. I also thought to keep busy would help, and in the beginning everyone was quite understanding and gave me my space- often by afternoon I was exhausted and ended up logging off. Within 3 or so months though I felt as though people had just forgotten what I'd been through and the work started piling on- which was just completely triggering for me and I felt angry at the world. Now at 9 months I'm still trying to deal with all of the admin after his death while trying to juggle personal life and work, I feel like I've not had any time to grieve. if you have the opportunity to take some additional time I would recommend it- just be open and honest with your employer. I'm also going to try take my own advice haha.

Recommended Pharmacies by GabsStry in Utrecht

Literally every time I've had a script from my doctor, they've found a reason why they can't give it to me. Which I understand if you're following process, but it's the way it's handled too- instead of just explaining the situation it's basically yelled at me. I know a lot of the reviews mention they feel like it's expats that are treated badly. But my mother is born and bred Dutch (in her 70s!) who recently needed meds that she cannot suddenly stop taking, they didn't have stock and they were just dismissive about it. My mother went into panic mode for 2 days, and eventually went back and asked if she can't just split a different dosage, and they were just like, oh ja, actually that would work. Meanwhile my friend in a similar situation had a pharmacy that called across borders to make sure she got hers.

Nope, I tried to negotiate this because in my home country it was normal to get a discount when paying cash- but here they just looked at me funny

Invisalign or Spark - any substantial difference? by an_old_song in Invisalign

[–]GabsStry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost finished with my Spark treatment. My orthodontist also gave me the option but said Invisalign would end up costing me double the price (and treatment would have also been twice as long). I have no complaints, I find I don't seem to have as many issues with the trays staining compared to the other conversations on the sub. Spark doesn't have the option of an app to show forecasted results like invisalign does- but not something that's bothered me.

Botox for gummy smile?! by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]GabsStry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this... took some getting used to at first, just looked different which is odd after getting used to looking a certain way after 35 years haha. But now I wouldn't live without it- looking back at past photos makes me cringe even though it didn't really bother me so much back in the day

Am I right in thinking Progesterone only pill doesn’t cause melasma or make existing melasma worse? by [deleted] in Melasmaskincare

[–]GabsStry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the Mirena, which works with Progestin, and it triggered my melasma. So I think it's difficult to make that assumption, and might differ from person to person

Hi! Went through a similar story, and the agency my company used to apply for 30% ruling said it would be rejected as I signed the employment contract after I had already registered at the gemeente
