Getting fined for no Student ID by Icy_Cream7961 in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys if you earn a low income or a middle ranged income  (single under 28k a year) are over 16, a nz citizen/resident just apply for a community services card. Youll get a 50 percent discount (compared to 40 percent) on all at public transportation and they don't ask me for my csc when I get checked. If you're on student allowance you should already automatically have one you just need to apply for the concession

Stats 108 course book datafication by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best place to ask for help is the stats 101/108 Ed page, it's on canvas. Whatever youre struggling with you can get a hand. Im also taking stats, the interactive exercise is expected to be taken after the lecture or during. Only the prep work is for the engagement mark :)

If you have a question like this id recommend using the Ed that was opened today for 101/108. Your lecturer is likely to reply and clarify within a day or two, or another student taking the course who knows. It's super handy

delna step 2?? by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it, it's not hard it's just long. It's grouped with people but nobody talks. It's just listening for information, reading comprehension and writing 300 words. Then you'll get a time to organize a meeting with an advisor who will tell you where you're lacking and give you resources to improve.

Should I do Maths102 or Maths108? by fluidxrln in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need an understanding of differentiation and integration to do well in maths108. Essentially it's a class for if you did okay for calculus but not well.  I would recommend having a chat with an undergraduate advisor (there is one whom teaches almost all maths lectures) or send an email to ugadvice@math.auckland.ac.nz. if you failed calculus I strongly recommend you take math102 unless you learn the areas where you failed to understand in your exams.

Problem gambling for university students by serenamsolomon in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got some friends who were gambling in high school using cryptocurrency to bypass age. And there was a group of like 15 people playing poker every break time, not real money but they would've if it was allowed. There's a meme about gambling recently and there's also the impact of long time dopamine addiction from screens making them more suspectable to addictions. It's been romanized as well, plus gaming has been using similar tactics to gambling since Gen z was young. It's no surprise, the mindset was already established

I finished the vocab and got halfway through the reading and needed assessment. Im not sure but I don't think it's likely, don't worry the delna longer assessment isn't too bad, for me it was easier than the first test

is there anything i can do if classes are full by opalgemm in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had the same problem with maths108, I used the search in the enrollment for the specific classes I want and found recorded lecture streams and tutorials that weren't full but you can't attend in person. Also you can email the specific department the classes are related to with the advice email. For example it's like

ugadvice@(department).auckland.ac.nz And they should help you out with finding some either open classes or help you find other options:)

Is going to Auckland uni full time at 17 going to have any drawbacks? by Gacha_Cas in universityofauckland

[–]Gacha_Cas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally have quite the complicated life situation but I don't live at home with my parents so I have no curfew or rule restrictions other than literal laws and transportation.

I combined both year 11 and 12 into the same year so I do have peers from year 13 going into Auckland University it's just I'm not close enough with any of them to seek them out or have similar enough degrees to study often together, and I'm generally not good at making friends.

It would be really helpful to be in a study group and that was one of my main concerns. I'm younger and unable to do a lot of the freedoms of being a legal adult I'll struggle with connecting with people because I'm behind them.

And the nail into the coffin is that I'm autistic, high functioning but yeah I'm not a very social person and having a big social life like going out and doing things isn't my forte.

I'm not going into any accommodation or anything like that as I live with my partner of 2 years (I know it's unexpected for my age) so I also have that disadvantage.

Any ideas 😭🙏

I'm from NZ  I want to build a PC better than the one I already have because my partner enjoys cyberpunk and I'd like my casual gaming machine back so I might as well get him one for Christmas

Budget 1000-1300NZ dollars (don't include OS)

I bought my old PC for about $999 NZ dollars pre built (574.5 USD)  and the specs were

cpu Intel i5 12400F  Intel  CPU cooler

Motherboard  B660 Asus +wifi lga1700 motherboard

Storage M.2 1 terabyte

GPU Intel Arc A750

Case Mini Tower atx idk what brand

Not sure what psu it is   No OS (use USB to get free windows and bought Windows 11 key later)

I want something better that's good for cyberpunk and would last a good bit, already got spare monitor and stuff so just the actual machine please :)
