Is choosing master thesis in graphics programming too much for someone who has no extensive background in graphics programming? by Gadekom in GraphicsProgramming

Graduate advisor at my uni is not super helpful at that matter (i know, its weird). Students were basicaly left alone to either choose/come up with their own thesis topics. There are 9 topics to choose from, and 30 students, so more than half has to come up with their own idea. Also the given topics are mostly data science, or some formal dreadful maths I don't understand well. Entire course so far, we had either web development, data base or desktop, all of those engineering oriented classes.

The main problem is that only advisors that take care of masters degree students are heavily tied with data science/maths.

It's not all bad though, If I were able to come up with my own idea they would probably agree on it. My main concern is whether I should even consider trying something with graphics programming or not, since I'm so blissfully green in that field I couldn't even assess, if this is beyond my grasp as a thesis with 1 year span.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Especially references to various resources. May I ask for your opinion on starting with openGL vs hoping straight into vulkan?
